Gino's Vino Osteria is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars, based on 312 reviews!
Best Italian food I've had since I don't know how long. Live music was a nice surprise! Friendly waitstaff. Everything we had was yum. Gino came over to say hi! We will be back guests!
Good food stomach is full and happy. I will definitely come back again. I had the chicken parmigiana and my wife had the chicken with the ziti.
Loved this place and will definitely be back. A little on the expensive side if you get drinks, but the food and atmosphere made it worth the money. The owner is incredibly friendly and the staff were wonderful.
Will be back here again.
This was a fabulous first time here. The scallopini was delightful and the table-side Caesar salad was perfectly fresh tasting. I'll be back! Thank you, Gino!
I enjoyed the food here. My ribeye with mushroom and gorgonzola risotto was very well prepared. So tender I didn't need a knife. Strong drinks. Guy singing and playing the keyboard. Super good meal, would recommend.
Finally tried our neighborhood Italian place and happy to report that it lives up to the hype. Let's keep this short:
- Kitschy, bistro atmosphere. Loved the lighting, coziness, flowers, and candles.
- Fantastic service. Our server was a natural. Wish I remembered his name...
- Food was delicious. Homemade pasta. My shrimp scampi with bucatini was perfectly cooked and loaded with shrimp.
There. Done. We'll be back.
I knew when I walked in that I was in for a treat! I dined alone and almost regretted it because the atmosphere is something worth sharing- but Brandon and Gino (and the host-didn't catch his name) all made me feel like an honored guest. This was the first time I've been to a restaurant where the owner was actively engaged in the diner's experience. It's a small place, so be prepared for that if you get claustrophobic. The wine list is extensive, with varieties from around the world! I got the caprese salad which was awesome and the Lasagne Vegetale...have you seen the movie Ratatouille? Remember the part when Anton Ego eats the Ratatouille and is transported to a different time and place? That's what the lasagna did to me: The world faded away and I felt like I was home, and like maybe my home could be Italy! Can't wait to go back and share the experience with loved ones!
Wonderful, warm atmosphere and absolutely delicious cuisine! Service was excellent as well! I will definitely be returning to this gem!
Hosted my wife's 50th birthday party at Gino's. The staff were superb, the food was incredible and fresh and the ambience was perfect for the occasion. Gino and his wife made sure that every detail of our experience was tended to 100%. Returned later in the evening for a nightcap and listened to the live entertainment which was classy and at the perfect decibel to allow you to enjoy their music while still being able to have a conversation without yelling. Highly recommend this gem. Definitely coming back.
Just moved into the area, and this will be our go to place. It might be a little pricey if you do a full night ( apps, salads, entree, wine and dessert) but honestly the flavors and portions were worth it. Cozy atmosphere and owners that make you feel like one of the family. I highly recommend this place
Stopped in last night for dinner at Gino's for a second time. I had the Veal Piccata with one of the best lemon/caper sauces that ever landed on my taste buds. And, the pasta was generous and full of the homemade flavor. I highly recommend Gino's to everyone I see and only wish I lived closer to be able to partake on a more frequent basis. The atmosphere is quaint, full of Italian sounds and the hospitality of Gino makes the trip even better. The only area of concern was our server seemed to be overloaded with tables and was not expeditious about filling glasses or finishing up our meal with desert.
I will definitely return to Gino's when I am in the area!
Loved this place. The food is delicious and the service is great. The owner was there taking care of the business and making sure everything was up to the standards. There's live music. It was a bit chilly for me inside but I'm always cold, next time I'll make sure to wear a jacket. I can't wait to have dinner or lunch at this place again!
Had a great time at the 'Wizard of Oz' wine-paired dinner theater last night. Food was excellent and the wines were just out of sight. This is a cozy little gem of a spot where the food is always terrific and the wine selections extensive. Something of a 'Cheers' kind of place with a loyal following, but very welcoming to all.
The food is authentically Italian and served up with local ristorante hospitality. The other reviews are spot on.
Fresh as it gets. Plain and simple! The table salad presentation on Caesar dressing was awesome. Complimentary bread was grilled and the butter was easy to spread. The Veal Parmesan had a great breading. The mozzarella had an authenticity to it incomparable to a store bought. The Bolognese on my guests plate was delicious and rich in flavor. Tiramisu was great. Thanks for a great birthday dinner!
What are you doing reading this review? Stop right now and get here! I'm angry with myself that this was my first time. Fortunately I know this won't be the last. Incredible staff, exquisite food, indomitable service to the customer. Go. You'll thank me later.
BEST ITALIAN FOOD IN AUSTIN! We were in again last night & man was it delicious! The environment is great with great live music, a great waiter, & Gino, the owner is very friendly and cordial! The parking isn't the best but Gino's is definitely worth parking and walking a little bit. Love this place.
A very good place for a real Italian meal. The pasta was house made and al dente the sauce was tasty and they have a deep wine list fairly priced.
This place is a gem
A fantastic and absolutely tasty dinner in a cool spot, with lovely and personal service, great music and stiff drinks. Our new favorite Italian joint in Austin.
You may have to look hard to find this place as it's tucked into the corner of a Marriott Residence Inn in the Mueller development. But the reward is worth it! Park in back (between the hotel, the bank and the strip mall) and walk around the corner or walk through the hotel and then around the corner. As you walk in, you'll be bathed in the red light coming from the spots in the ceiling (very cool) and be greeted by the smells of garlic, onions & happiness.
We (3 of us) were greeted at the door by Gino himself, seated right away (on a Saturday night, no less) and our waiter was Scott, who was straight up awesome. He provided us great recommendations on appetizers, drinks and dinners, chatted us up in a super friendly and typical Austin way, and even turned me on to a new Rye = (ri)1, which was a nice alternative to the usual.
Appetizers were fried mozzarella (for the little dude) and beef carpaccio for the adults. The carpaccio was straight up traditional & delicious, as was the mozzarella (devoured quickly by said little dude). They also brought out bread that has been toasted on the grill, which was delicious.
Main dishes were penne pasta with arugula pesto and Italian sausage, risotto with Gorgonzola sauce and fillet mignon and grilled shrimp over mushroom risotto. All were cooked to perfection, nicely plated, served promptly with just a bit of time between the appetizers (perfection as far as I am concerned), and just super tasty. We devoured everything quickly, all shared, and all loved each other's dishes.
This place has a killer lounge singer named Jane Maddox, who was just fantastic singer. She belted out the standards but didn't make it impossible to also have a conversation at the table (we were seated towards the back).
Lastly, both Gino and his wife, Ping Li, stopped by the table to chat, say hello and make sure we were taken care of. This place is old school, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Great food, great service, killer food, wonderful vibe, great bar. I wish Austin has more places like this as it desperately needs them. Please keep up the great work.
Real-deal Italian in the heart of Mueller.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal prior to our show at the Bass. The table-side caesar salad; fresh, handmade pasta; well-crafted cocktails; and delectable desserts - everything was very good.
I eschew desserts these days, but after polishing off my plate of delicious carbonara I knew I had to see what these folks could do with sweets. No letdown at all!
Gino and Ping are delightful, working the room just as you'd find in almost any joint back where I grew up. I cracked up reading a prior reviewer's criticism of how loud Gino was. He's from the northeast, it's not like he has a choice! Great, welcoming vibe from a couple who clearly have poured their passion into the restaurant.
Came here for a late lunch and it was just us and another table. Pretty quite place at the edge of the Mueller area. When you're inside, it's like night and day, literally. It's super dark with weird red-ish light - guess it's for the ambiance.
Ordered a couple of pastas which all tasted good. Nothing stood out. The veal was a bit chewy at times. And the caesar salad we ordered was underwhelming. $50 for a big ol' bowl of caesar for five. Granted, she was mixing in front of us so we saw that it was "fresh." But it wasn't worth $50 imo.
Decent place but a one time visit for me.
Gino is a fellow Detroiter!
His wine selection is outstanding!
His cocktail concoctions are award winning (Blood Orange Martini), and his Manhattans and Old Fashions are top notch.
Pasta is made in house! A true Dago! Veal Parmesan was outstanding!
Authentic Italian restaurant with homemade pasta, homemade Caesar salad at your table and the best customer service I've ever seen. If you're looking for a fair priced great Italian meal this is the place to go for sure. The owner greets everyone that walks in and they make sure to take care of you. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and the chicken was so tender I didn't even need a knife. Try to save room for dessert if you can...it's worth it.
Just great, what a secret little gem tucked away between 51st and Barbara Jordan. Authentic Italian (I've been to Italy, this isn't New Yorkian Little Italy) and a small osteria vibe: 'osteria' means 'small restaurant' in Italian. The wine list was mind boggling. All the pasta is made on site as well as the sauces. Just super good. I had the lamb meatballs with spaghetti and it was spectacular. Fresh grated parmesan, just like in Italy.
The food is absolutely DELICIOUS THERE!!! I highly recommend the food if you are feeling Italian good! Will definitely be back if I ever am in Austin!
We really enjoyed our date night here. The food, service, and food was amazing! We will definitely be back.
I definitely loved the atmosphere, the ambience. Would be great for a quiet date night. It is on the pricier side but everything was fresh and homemade. Love how they made the ceasar salad at our table. I had the bolognese and it was delicious! The staff was very friendly and Gino (owner) even came and introduced himself.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Don't be alarmed that it's at the bottom of a hotel, they aren't connected. Good classic Italian food. Great service and friendly staff. Had a live singer and guitar player who was amazing. If you want amazing classic Italian food, this is the place to go! Menu is amazing!
Wow this is a good place to go eat. We went on a food tour and went back on our own just to sit down and have a good meal.
This restaurant is fantastic. The server was incredibly nice, and the food was delicious. I had the lasagna, and it tasted unlike most lasagnas I've had previously. It had a tad smoky flavor due to the meat sauce, but it was great. I would definitely go back. The atmosphere was also very nice with low lighting, white tablecloths, etc.
Great atmosphere! Gino is very personable, makes everyone feel right at home! The drinks are great only surpassed by the delicious menu that is true to its Italian roots.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ITALIAN I'VE EVER HAD!!!!! The Bolognese was amazing . Absolutely amazing.. go eat here... I mean it .... Completely worth EVERY cent ..
Went to Gino's for the first time last night. What a wonderful experience! Wish I had know of this place sooner. The outer appearance is not that impressive, but the atmosphere inside was exceptional. The lighting was soft. A live lounge singer helped to set a relaxing mood. Our server was friendly with just the right amount of attentiveness. Gino stopped by our table to introduce himself and welcome us. Best of all was the food! It was without a doubt the best Italian cuisine I've ever had in Austin. As we were dining my wife and I agreed that Gino's had immediately become one of our date night favorites.
This place is totally Austin meets Italian. Live music and amazing menu. Everything home made. The owner will come treat you like an old friend. A total slice of Austin. Check it out!!!!!
I’m Italian from NY and go to Italy frequently.
So am a picky eater
Really good food
We ate at Gino's last. It was a lot of fun. It reminded of the old style "Red Sauce" Italian restaurants you would go to back east. The ambiance is great. Gino is the perfect host. He greets you at the door and immediately makes you feel like family. Dressed like the perfect Italian with a perfectly pressed shirt! The staff was also excellent! Service was prompt and friendly. Portions were generous. Also if you enjoy wine as we do there are over 200 different choices.
This place was so great! It seems unassuming from the outside because it's under an apartment complex but when you walk in, it's quaint and romantic. Gino, the owner, greeted us and took us to our table. He was so friendly and talked with us as if we were long time friends. Their wine selection is pretty good. We ordered the tableside Caesar salad-recommendation from Gino. It was delicious! I ordered the Bolognese and my boyfriend ordered the fettuccine alfredo. Both also very delicious. Price point is on the higher side but I'm willing to pay that much for authentic Italian and it was a good experience. All of the noodles and gnocci are made in-house so it's fresh. It was very similar to when I went to Italy. And I'm always up for supporting a friendly local business that makes you feel like family. All in all it was a great experience. I'd definitely visit again.
Normally I'm not a fan Italian myself but my daughter loves it. We decided to give this place a try and I cannot brag enough! Gino is such a sweetheart and has such a warm personality and made us feel so welcome. The polenta is to die for a the gnocchi is the best I've ever had! Get the homemade Caesar salad if you get the chance as well, it's fantastic. Great place for a date night or dinner with your family! I look forward to eating here again!
From the time we walked in and were greeted by Mr. Gino himself to the live music to the wine selection to the diverse menu, this was a place I can see myself coming back to often. I have been searching for an authentic Italian restaurant in Austin and finally found one. Thank you to Gino and his staff for a wonderful Saturday evening as we will be back again.
BEST ITALIAN IN AUSTIN! A wine list a mile long. Italian hospitality, entertainment and high end service. The food!? Fah-geta-bout-it!!
Amazing!!! We went this evening to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and all I can say is amazing!! The food was so so good, the wine list is enormous, the staff is wonderful, and the owner is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. Highly highly recommend this place and we will definitely go back again
Really good. We had the table side Caesar salad that they made fresh in front of us, amazing! The
Croutons were fresh warm bread. I had chicken piccata and my husband had chicken carbonara. Mine was awesome, made perfectly. My husbands was good, he said the only one he had that was better was in Europe. We had the tiramisu and they had a different twist on it. It was not layered but served in a glass. Creamy and rich, it is a must! The owner and his lovely wife came by to chat with us. I noticed the owner talks with everyone to ensure everything is good and that you are happy. Great customer service. It is definitely a great find to take family from out of town and a place to have a nice date with a loved one. We will be back!
Gino, the owner, is such a nice guy. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. Over 30 wines by the glass. Specialty cocktail menu. I avoid Italian because I have to eat gluten free, but he has a great gluten free menu. Nice outdoor seating area as well. He gives back to the Austin community and runs a great restaurant. Lobster and steak are great as well.
Gino is very hospitable. He tries maybe a little too hard for everyone's taste. He is a European man and I am so used to this being a first generation American of European descent. Not everyone will appreciate Gino's exuberant demeanor.
I came in late after the kitchen was closed, but Gino was happy to make my son and I an anti-pasto plate. It was the perfect evening food paired with a nice white Moscato. In fact it was just too much food for my son and me. We took our leftover antipasto with us. It made a nice little breakfast since we overslept for the hotel breakfast the next morning.
Kudos to Gino. And, thanks for helping my son smile. He was a little down before going in. Leaving, he was much happier.
We went here for our 3rd anniversary and it was amazing! They were so friendly and the food was great! We had the perfect pairing of wine with our meal. Gino the owner gives you the one on one treatment and he is one of a kind. If you have never been it is a must for being in Austin.
This was the BEST Italian dinner I’ve ever had. It was so wonderful to be greeted at the door by the owners. Gino personally greeted every table and was extremely helpful in every way possible.
From the moment I walked in the door I felt like I was family coming over for dinner. Gino greeting me with the warmest invite. It was kinda needed being away from home(Louisiana)for work. The food was fresh and delicious. I can't wait to come back to Austin and eat here again.
Holly Spumoni this place is great!!
We went during lunch and it is the best Italian food I have had in years. I highly recommend this place. I will be going for dinner one night before I leave town.
I had the crab cake which was the best crab cake I’ve ever had! Service was awesome. Our hostess was very attentive. The owner was present and very friendly and entertaining. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful Italian meal in Austin!!!
A great place. Vintage Italian restaurant vibe. Good food and drink at a reasonable price. Great service.
Thank you Gino and Ping for your time and generosity catering Overture Mueller's Happy Hour last night. The appetizers were spot on, fresh, and very tasty. You know you've hit a home run when there is absolutely nothing left.
I can't say enough about Gino's Vino. From the time you walk in the door you feel that you are visiting someone's home rather than a restaurant. The service is impeccable, the food delicious and the table made Caesar Salad is the best I've ever had, and I've had them all over the world!
Hats off, Gino, to you and your entire team! Gino's is our new go-to place for a casual dinner or to entertain friends we want to impress!
My mom, step-dad, and I went over the weekend and loved it!! Was so glad they had gluten free pasta. We all loved our meals, loved the music, and loved Gino! Can't wait to come back!
Definitely love Gino's. If you love italian you will love Gino's..it's not olive garden for sure! Treat yourself to more realistic and authentic italian at this place- you will not be disappointed! ;-)
After much deliberation, my husband and I decided to take my MIL to this highly rated Italian place we hadn't been to yet. I mean, an almost 5 stars out of 240 reviews reputation on Yelp hasn't done me wrong, yet.
We were not disappointed! We started with a cocktail while we searched the menu for whatever our palettes desired. I 10/10 recommend the blood orange martini. We ordered a bottle of wine (they have over a hundred choices!) to pair with dinner.
Fun fact: All the pasta and sauces are made in house. My husband got the lamb meatballs and traditional red sauce. My MIL had the Chicken Picada, which was very delicious. I had the shrimp with the white wine and lemon sauce. I swear even the baby Jesus himself would have exclaimed with utter delight at how delicious this food was!
Gino is a frequent face at his family owned, fine dining restaurant. The staff here are kind and knowledgeable. It can be a bit spendy, so be prepared to spend at least $25/30 dollars a head. Even more if you're indulging in the nectar of the gods.
We will definitely return!
This restaurant was absolutely delightful! The home made pasta was excellent, great portions and super friendly staff. This is the type of eatery you would want to be a regular at. Very inviting and warm atmosphere, will definitely be back!
Gino's is one of the BEST restaurants in Austin. THIS Italian gem is authentic, has live music and makes you feel AT HOME! The wine selections, unique dishes and live music is second to none. Gino makes you feel at home. Yes, he IS ITALIAN. Yes, he makes you feel like family. No, he is not low key. That's because he knows that KNOWING AND GREETING his clients is paramount to his business.
Don't even consider another Italian restaurant in Austin if you want great quality and incomparable service. I was reading through the other reviews and see a lot of great comments that I agree with. I see others that make me chuckle. This is a great place in Austin that provides AN EXPERIENCE. It is NOT OVER PRICED. This establishment DOES NOT pretend to cater to the discount community. If you don't have money to dine out and enjoy an experience, then DO NOT GO OUT. But don't post a negative review because you, personally, can not afford to go to a nice dinner. That is NOT Ginos fault. Don't expect a champagne dinner on a beer budget. I SUPPORT Gino's and his service and food.
Gino's is by far my favorite place in Austin. Not only is the food outstanding but Gino makes me feel like part of the family every time I walk in the door. Faith makes the best grapefruit martini this side of the Mississippi.
Everything was excellent! The bread, the wine, the crab cake appetizer, the Cardinale sauce!!! Wow. I wish I would’ve found this place sooner!
This best Authentic Italian I've ever had. Intimate atmosphere perfect for date night or a night out with the girls. I order the steak pizziola and I couldn't finish it. Huge portions. Steak was very tender and jucit. The owners come right out and talk to you. All there meat is shipped straight from Italy. I mean how much more Italian can you get?
Amazing spot to stumble upon!! Great food and plenty of wine options!
This is a 5 star restaurant. We had a scrumptious 5 course meal. The scallops wrapped in bacon ( that you then dip in butter)? were the best I ever had. What a super fun Game of Thrones theme night! Cant wait until the next one! Even better than the food is how Gino makes you feel like family! And he has the beautiful Marilyn Monroe (Jane Maddox Cody) pergorming there and it is just amazing!
A very nice little place. Excellent menu with dishes you rarely see, and nicely made. Fresh pasta and mozzarella. Wait staff are top notch. The owner visits every table and quite the character. It's on the pricer side, but well worth it for what you get to enjoy. A Yelp star.
Wow. Just wow! From the moment we walked up the steps, the owner greeted us by name (we made reservations). We were immediately seated. We enjoyed an award winning Blood Orange martini and a charcuterie appetizer. Delicious! We ordered wine by the glass with mouth watering freshly made pasta dishes. The service was great too! Very knowledgeable wait staff. We will definitely be back.
Delicious & wonderful service!!! Gino himself opened the door and complimented this 39 week pregnant lady! What a sweet guy!! The bread & butter they brought out was fantastic!! We started with the Caesar salad, what an amazing dressing!! Amazing menu selection of homemade pastas! So hard to choose but I went with the gnocchi with salmon & shrimp & Alfredo sauce & breadcrumbs on top!! Yummy!! Absolutely divine! Was completely full after eating half! My husband got the spaghetti and lamb meatballs and said it was great! They made me a tasty juice with grapefruit and orange juice since I'm not drinking alcohol right now. I really enjoyed that! So glad my guy chose this place for date night!! Nice, intimate, romantic atmosphere but also casual enough that you don't need to dress up to go! Def worth the money for a special night out! I hope we can go back soon!
This is a must attend restaurant for all Austinites and persons visiting Austin. Going to Gino's Vino Osteria is like stepping back into time into a 1950s ear night club. Great food and atmosphere.
I have a confession to make, I have "fallen in love" with this wonderful little restaurant and will be back again and again. Vino, thanks for making your restaurant both an enjoyable place to eat and one that offers wonderful entertainment.
I have been to Gino's wonderful little restaurant for lunch several times and took my daughter, son in law, and wife there this past Christmas Eve.
The food - Italian food at its best - was delicious. No, it is to "die for." You will love it. Check out the menu, you will love it.
Not only is the food something to "die for", Vino has wonderful entertainment. We saw Jane Maddox who does a great job impersonating Marilyn Monroe.
My family and I had the escargot and calamari friti as appetizers. All wonderful and so tasty. I had the Lasagna di Casa, my wife had the Veal Piccata, my daughter had the Penne al Forno, and my son in law had the Pollo Parmigiano. All were DELICIOUS.
During my lunch visits I have tried several different main entrees from Gino's wonderful menu.
If you are lucky, Gino himself will come out and greet you. Very nice person with a big wonderful personality. He makes you feel both welcomed and valued.
And yes, he takes reservations. WALK-INS WELCOME MON-THURS!
Reservations recommended for Friday and Saturday nights.
Check this magnificent little restaurant out on your next visit to Austin. Add it to your "bucket list" as a place you just have to eat at. Do pass up on this experience.
Not sure why Yelp is showing me as being from San Francisco, CA. But oh well, that little error on Yelp's part does not change the fact that I love this restaurant.
Fantastic Italian food and service~ Mr. Gino is a great guy~ We will come back again~
Amazing food, always feel like family when you walk in. The owner recognized me talk about great customer service!
Great authentic Italian food! Only complaint was the price for the portion of the shrimp dish my date received. The owner was very personable and great atmosphere!
Best Ceasar salad ever! I had the squid ink ravioli stuffed with seafood with pomodoro sauce. It was good but raviolli was a Al dente. Husband had one of the top rated veal marsala he has ever had.
Service was ok. When told they do a table side Ceasar I assumed it came with dinner since I didn't see on menu. Couple next to us got dinner and I realized they didn't get a salad. I asked the waiter and he said I needed to order. Felt a little guilty since cooks were probably close to completing our meal. Probably why pasta wasn't perfect.
The BEST Italian food in Austin and I LOVE ITALIAN food.
Gino is a class act and makes everyone feel like family there. I highly recommend! He and his staff are amazing! Keep it up, Gino!
Great food, excellent wine and cocktail list, fantastic service. So convenient to the Marriott next door.
Gino himself will most likely greet you, nice guy.
I can definetly recommend the bolognese, well done!
Great authentic Italian food. Good service. Will return
This is our new, favorite Italian Restaurant!! The food, the service and the ambiance are Excellent!! Thank you, Gino!!
Fresh made pasta. Great variety. Gino is very friendly, as is the service. Great Caesar salad. Great creme brulee. Overall, one of the best Italian places in Austin.
Vibe of this place is so cool! The owner is there (I think it was him, his name was Gino..? Lol) and he is super involved in what goes on in his restaurant. Good for a group but def should make reservations since it's on the smaller side. We were lucky enough to get 2 seats at the bar after work. They stopped doing HH which is unfortunate but we got a bottle of wine and they offered us bread which is what I was needing lol would def come back when I'm ready for some pasta
If you are looking for authentic quality Italian food, this is the place to go in Austin. Gino greets you at the door and introduces himself. The service was good. Nice long wine list. Homemade pastas . Great food
Absolutely my favorite authentic Italian restaurant in Austin lasagna and Caesar salad is my favorite. All the pasta is home made, super fresh, home made mozzarella, great selection of delicious wines, and award winning martinis. Gino the owner and his wife make you feel at home. Great vibe, makes you want to come back weekly
Angelina is my favorite waiter
OMG we love this place !!!!!!
Came in for a late night dinner on a Saturday night, it was busy but we're able to be squeezed into the bar area.
Good vibes, amazing food, awesome service. It's a small place but the foods are so good that you don't even mind if you have to squeeze a little.
With the LIVE music playing in the background, it's a awesome place for a date night.
Will definitely some back!
You're gonna park around back, the handful of parking spaces in front will all be taken, but no biggy. You'll be tempted to take a shortcut through the Residence Inn lobby, but be forewarned, the doors will likely be locked unless you have a hotel room key.
Small dining room, a couple outside tables; call ahead for reservation. Completely old school, no worries about tripping over the usual pile of Austin hipsters here. Excellent professional service, friendly, graceful.
Wife raved about the Sparkling Blood Orange Martini. Sadly no draft beers, but a few good Italian bottled beer selections. Nice broad selection of wines by the glass.
Incredible care for food quality. I didn't notice ceasar salad on the menu but we frequently saw it prepared table side - for two or more, it's a lot of effort and generally unavailable for one. A good choice too; particularly with a couple extra anchovies on top (in my humble opinion), though would enjoy the croutons crispy.
Really nice big menu of classic Italian, including a lot of seafood dishes. House made pasta was a treat in several dishes. House made mozzarella delicious as well. Wife raved over the Tagliatelle Bolognese, describing it as far above her standard version at North Italia. The Vitello Parmigiana was also delicious, though a big plate, so I'd try something not fried on the next visit. Never worry though, there is so much to explore on the menu.
We'll be back soon. Cheers to Gino's continued success.
Fantastic atmosphere, warmly greeted at the door by the very outgoing proprietor, Gino. Instant feeling of cozy comfortable with a fun energy throughout the place. First impressions were spot on, and stayed that way through the entire dinner. Service was impeccable. Food and drinks absolutely delicious. Sweet live entertainment with Marilyn Monroe, not overpowering at all letting dinner conversation continue on uninterrupted. Absolutely loved the place and will definitely be back again and again.
This is one of my go-to spots in north Austin. The food and service is Awesome! Ask to meet Gino. He's is marvelous!
Seven of us went to Gino's for the first time for dinner last night . What a great experience! Gino made us feel right at home - like we were old friends stopping by for a visit. The food was amazing from the appetizers (we shared the caprese, calamari and shrimp cocktail) to entrees of blackened red fish, lasagna, scallops with risotto, shrimp scampi, and tagliatelle Bolognese and finishing with desserts of lemon cake (my favorite), crme brulee and chocolate mousse. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, the server was knowledgeable, helpful and attentive and the background music stayed where it belonged, in the background (it was possible to have a conversation without having to shout over it). I highly recommend stopping in for dinner - we plan to do just that many times.
Not a bad neighborhood lunch spot. It's pasta and it's hard to impress. Dinner has a wine special and musical entertainment.
Gino Vino's has some of the best salmon this side of the river this was the first dish I had eaten here they glaze it in a red wine blueberry sauce they also have a garlic butter sauce I had them bring it to me on the side and I was able to try both of the sauces dipping the salmon what a delicious combination I also tried their appetizer can you please send those numbers to your own phone number like you used to mozzarella and large slices of tomato with balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top the mozzarella and tomatoes were some of the freshest in an Italian restaurant the second time I visit this restaurant I had their house made Tagaitele pasta with a veal Bolognese sauce then I covered it in Parmesan cheese with toasted French bread slices and butter what an amazing combination these two dishes dancing around against my palate.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time.
I was meeting buddies for lunch and one of them said this place was fantastic. He was not wrong.
The restaurant is a quaint comfortable romantic place straight out of The Godfather.
The owner, Gino met me at the door and introduced himself.
The wait staff was very efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable.
And the menu was amazing. Not Olive Garden variety but AUTHENTIC from scratch Italian cuisine.
I ordered the lamb chops and they were perfect.
I ordered veal piccata "to go" for my wife because I am a thoughtful husband. She said it was the best she has ever had.
I can't say enough good things about Gino's Vino.
I will definitely be back WITH MY WIFE!
Our dining experience was worth making a Yelp account for. Gino (the owner) greeted us at the door, and checked in throughout our dining experience to ensure everything was perfect. Service was prompt, and informative. Anything I could write about the food would be an understatement, but take my word when I say that everything from the bread to the entrees was beyond comparison. Do yourself a favor and pay Gino's a visit - you won't regret it.
I love Gino's,!!! My brother and I sat at the bar for cocktails and dinner. The food was awesome, service was excellent and Elle was AMAZING!!! Our drinks were sooooo good! I recommend going and will be a MUST on my list when I'm in Austin!
This is now one of my new favorite places. Only been once for a work lunch so far, but I can't wait to go back. I'm actively trying to setup a double-date night right now so I can show my friends how great this place is. The owner Gino will come and chat with you about your food. I left there feeling like he was a friend of mine. The food was amazing, and I can't wait to try more. Best part (other than in-house noodles) is that it's not super expensive. You NEED to check this place out.
This is an upscale restaurant with great food and service. It is authentic Italian ran by Gino, a great Italian gentleman. The music was live and great.
This is hands down one of the greatest places I have ever been to in my life. Not just because of the food, which was hands down incredible!
We walked in, the place was completely packed. Gino himself greeted us at the door. We grabbed a few drinks and sat on the patio while we waited for a table. Gino ventured out on the patio with a round of shots for us, to accommodate our wait. Once we got seated the night just got better. Our waiter Dustin was hands down phenomenal. Not one person at our table ordered an exact menu item. Everything is made from scratch right there in the kitchen so we pieced a few items together and we had our selves an amazing meal. The food was literally over the top. Throughout the evening Gino was right there on the floor, mingling with customers, having drinks with customers, and just making it a very enjoyable experience. I will be telling everyone about this place and will be back for another visit when I get back to Austin!
What a great surprise right next to our hotel! The food was amazing! They even had the best gluten free pasta I have ever had! The seafood melted in my mouth with freshness. Dustin was the perfect server. Gino himself greeted us and thanked us when we left. This is one of Austin's best kept secrets. You need to eat here and savor every bite!!
Gino’s Vino is the best Italian restaurant in Austin! The food is amazing but the best part is Gino and his lovely wife. Such amazing hospitality!
Nothing like sitting down and the waiter saying: "Hi I'm Gino.". Amazing food. Great music.
Best Italian I've ever had outside of Italy.
Fantastic meal tonight with my wife for her birthday. Our first time here and we will certainly come back next time in Austin. Gino is a great host and Ellie was a great server. They treated us like family!!!
This is the cutest Italian restaurant I've been to in such a long time. The ambiance and food are phenomenal. Having my salad and the dressing made and tossed in front of me is an amazing experience. I was greeted at the door by the owner who was very personable! Am definitely going to be back here regularly!
Amazing Food! Gino and Ping are the nicest people ever. The Best.
Glorious from the food to the wine to the music to the waiter to the management. Group of 6 of us out for a celebration - great wine list, lovely appetizers and table side caesar salad. We moved on to lamb lollipops, really rich and amazing seafood gnocchi, seafood ravioli and chicken piccata. We didn't think we had room until the desserts showed up -- lemon cake and salted caramel cheesecake to die for! We can't wait to come back. Thanks to the team there for such a memorable night.
Fantastic food, fantastic service! Gino's is what you want in an Italian restaurant and we are thankful we get to experience it! Keep it up!
Tho food is INCREDIBLE & I am a very picky person. I would eat here every night. Greeted by Gino personally - not just once. Great atmosphere. Dustin was the best waiter ever! If you're visiting- don't miss out! If you leave close to this restaurant - lucky you.
Lunch on Sunday Great Service and Great Food Felt like Family Small Quiet Cozy Ambiance Have to get Tableside Cesar's Salad
Support this restaurant. It's truly a gem because the owners and staff work very hard to please their guests. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The menu is focused on pleasuring the palate. Excellent!!!
Feels like home! I’m forever looking for my New York Italian experience in Austin. The delicious food and grandiose heart felt and friendly welcome -this is it.
We just ate dinner here and it was the BEST dining experience I have ever had. I can not recommend this place enough. Very personal and intimate restaurant. There was live music and the owner greeted us upon arrival and checked on us frequently. The pasta and mozzarella are made in house and the Caesar salad was made fresh to order. Our waitress was so attentive and helpful and they had the best selection of wines I've seen. It was super nice being able to meet Gino and having them squeeze us in on such a busy night. We will definitely be coming again. If you go, the Caesar salad is a MUST HAVE. Probably the best Caesar salad I've ever had.
By far the best dining experience I've ever had! The service is impeccable and the food is delicious! David took care of us when we dined at Gino's Vino; He was great and so informative, we really lucked out! Excited to visit this restaurant again, my new favorite!
Everyone at Gino Vino makes us feel like family. We come to Austin all the time for work and make sure we make time to stop and eat. I order the scallops and my husband orders the shrimp scampi. Its out of this world good. We had the creme brûlée tonight it was amazing. Can’t brag enough on this place. The owners are always on site and both are fun loving people and down to earth.
Gino's is one of the warmest, most authentic restaurants in Austin. As a foodie that appreciates the blend of excellent food with unique experience, I couldn't recommend it more highly. Don't expect fine dining g service, though that's what you may get. Instead, imagine you're at Gino's hoouse, with his friends and family taking good care of you with all home-made food and drink. This is what life is all about.
I must say, Gino's welcoming and inviting personality upon arriving here was quite a breath of fresh air. It felt like true Italian hospitality.
The food was excellent, the service was great and the music & atmosphere was fun.
I will definitely be visiting again.
Thank you Gino!
This is a wonderful little place, just east of I35 on 51st St. Having married into a big Italian family, I have some experience with the cuisine, and there is so much more to it than pizza and pasta. This place explores the beautiful seafood dishes and does it well. The antipasto was a delight, but the escargot was amazing. A mushroom risotto with Italian sausage and scampi was ample and delicious, and their vegetable side is a winner- not just some microwaved Bird's eye.
True to the name, the wine list is excellent. I would recommend this place for a celebration any time; the service is perfect, present and knowledgeable without intruding. There is a full bar as well, and on Friday's a lovely lady channels Marilyn Monroe. What's not to like?
What can I say? It was really good. The best Italian food I've had in Austin and a great date spot. Definitely sizable portions. The food is pricey ($24 for pasta dish, lower-mid end item) but such is the nature of nice restaurants. Give it a shot.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Austin! Gino has always greeted us when we eat here - he's awesome and you can tell he really cares about his restaurant, the service you receive and the quality of food. Must try if you haven't! Also, strongest martinis I've ever had. Half a glass in and you feel it lol. Dustin was our server this time and was phenomenal (on Christmas Eve!!!). Couldn't ask for more. Will keep coming back for sure.
I went to Gino's on Sunday with friends visiting from China. It is quite the place and I will be back to try the squid ink pasta.
The owners are there to explain the menu and their history in the business.
My friend was craving salmon and many places were closed in Austin. I had Gino's on my bookmarks so when he yelped salmon, Gino's was # 4 and not an ad.
What a culinary experience I had. The risotto was damn good and it had shrimp and scallops. K got the salmon medium rare so I had a bit of the end which was perfect for me. He loved it and the fancy wine that I need to ask Gino about because it was a damn good Pinot. Caparccio di Casa was decadent.
I will be back for happy hour and table side caesar salad.
This place was unbelievable. Everything was fantastic. Thank you Gino for hosting our event today you are a gentleman.
Charming surprise! We stopped by here while visiting Austin, and had a great time. My favorite appetizer was the bread with cheese, fig jam and balsamic reduction sauce. Thanks for the pleasant Austin experience:)
We don't get down Austin way often, but when we do this little Italian eatery is always on our must do list. While the cuisine is off the chart perfection, the hospitality and attention to detail makes you feel like part of their family. Love you guys, see you next time!
Mike and Sherry, Fort Worth, TX
Good food. Good people. Cheese plate is extraordinary for the price.
I'm an introvert, Gino is not. He's interactive. When I'm tired, it's a lot of in your face time. But it's great that he cares. They are flexible w the dishes/sauces. Family friendly. Dim interior.
Wine is expensive.
I like it there.
Gino will make you feel right at home. Great wait staff and very good food. Really enjoyed the evening at this place!!!
We happened upon this restaurant while visiting Austin. It is a MUST GO. Must eat. Must see. Gino himself made us the most amazing Caesar salad we have ever eaten in our lives (collectively)!!! Ambiance, personalization and escargot for the win!!! Go! You will not regret it!!!!!!
Great food and atmosphere. Their Thanksgiving meal was delicious.
Amazing atmosphere and warm welcome people! Strongly recommended :)
I asked my husband to take me out for dinner on Saturday. He did a great job picking a new place. Gino's is warm and inviting. It's small, cozy. The food is delicious; the service is good. There was a Marilyn Monroe looking singer the night we went. She made for nice background music, kind of blending in to the surroundings. Gino is the host with the most. He made the rounds talking to everyone and making sure all the patrons were enjoying themselves. He really loves what he does, and he's good at it. Everyone that we came in contact with was as welcoming as we left as they were when we arrived. This is definitely our new place for great Italian food and ambiance!
Great chill and laid back attitude. Although we didn't have any of the entrees, the drinks and desserts were great! Gino was very attentive and explained the menu very well. I'd totally come back again!
BEST PLACE as when you walk in Mr Gino makes you feel at home ! Food fresh made pasta , the mimosas fresh squeeze orange juice! I would go back in a heart beat!
First visit to this gem of a place this evening! Fabulous food, hospitality and ambiance! We are looking forward to our next visit?
Gino and I hit it off right off the bat. Great food great service. Great atmosphere!
Best italian restaurant in Austin!Food and service as well!:))
My wife and I had an outstanding lunch today at Gino’s Vino Osteria. We are from Dallas and were warmly welcomed by Ellie, his wonderful hostess and server. She prepared our Ceasar salad table side and it was the best we have ever had! We both had one of Gino’s unique pasta creations that tasted fabulous! We’ll be back!!
Great atmosphere. The owners were very friendly and the Chicken Marsala was outstanding. I will definitely be going back.
Had a really pleasant experience and the food was delicious!! Thanks Gino!
We've had nothing but incredible food and experiences at Gino's! The service is wonderful and the place feels warm and inviting the minute you walk in. My husband and I have loved every dish we've tried, mostly pastas and starters at happy hour. Delicious and authentic tasting Italian.
Amazing. Gino and his staff are fantastic! Housemade pasta and mozzarella yes please. We ordered the amazing caprese app, 4 cheese ravioli and chicken Marsala which all were huge portions. Would go again and definitely recommend.
Gino's is amazing! He has great personality and he will take great care of you!
Gino's has to be the Best Italian Restaurant in Austin.the food is great, service is superb. I do recommend the Caesar Salad, followed with Escargo, follow by either Lasagne or Filet and Lobster. Gino greets you at the door or even outside sometimes as he is everywhere making sure everything is as it is suppose to be. It is a nice Italian Supper Club, great for lunch also. Even my 87 year old Italian Father in Law gives it a thumbs up and that is saying something. Everything is Fresh, even their Mozzarella is home made.
We came in for lunch at the suggestion of our hotel front desk, and we couldn't be more happy we did. The food is great and Gino and Ping and his staff are even better. Lunch or dinner - you won't be sorry. And they have live music 4 nights a week!!
Visiting Austin for a conference at convention center, looking for a dinner and live music experience, away from the dives and college crowd (on a Wednesday night)
Short taxi ride to the location well worth it.
Food was delicious- homemade pastas and homemade mozzarella. Generous wine flights & a singer/guitarist who played music receptive to the crowd.
Owner/manager was very attentive.
I've never made a yelp posting, I was compelled after having such a good experience!
Will be marking this a repeat destination if ever on a future trip to Austin.
Dining here is wonderful!!! Outstanding service and the food is amazing. Will definitely go back!!
My co-workers and I happened upon Ginos while volunterring at The Ronald McDonald House in Mueller. We work in Round Rock and all live North of Austin, so we asked employees at RMH for some lunch suggestions in the area. One mentioned Ginos and upon looking it up on Yelp saw great reviews, we headed that way! Upon entering, we were promptly greeted by Gino himself! The complimentary bread was so good, I had to stop mysrlf from filling up. All of the pasta is homemade, each order of lasagna made to order and baked. Mozerella made in house as well! Seafood dishes had great tasting shrimp and scallops, all the sauces were great and the salad must of had the freshest vegetables available! We were all more than happy with our selections and ful, but we made room for desserts! Creme Brulee, Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake & Chocolate Cannolis were all delicious!! Cannot wait to return and try some of the antipasta starters especially the meat & cheese board and Caprese Salad which both looked amazing! Gino and staff made us feel right at home! My only suggestion would be for Gino to open a 2nd location in the Pville, Round Rock, Hutto area!
We were there and it's bustling. Food is great. Wine is GREAT. Cocktails FANTASTIC. I can't say enough about this lil joint. I want it to stay open and SO DO YOU. It's local. The owners greet you at the door! Mueller needs this! So, go. It will be a FANTASTIC meal, great service and you'll see what I mean. Just go.
This is more a 4.5 stars than 5 review.
Location and ambience -- located in a quiet-ish neighborhood of Austin with convenient parking. Comfortable outdoor patio a good size for parties for upto six. They had live music on a Saturday night. Small-ish inside but looked nice. Brownie points for the patio being dog friendly.
Service -- the best service I have ever experienced. Our server was extremely thoughtful and intuitive. Tiny things, like asking us if the music was too loud, not placing cutlery directly on the table, not being too pushy or saccharine, went a long way in making our experience great.
Food -- husband declared his dish 'the best seafood pasta ever!' I loved my pasta with deliciously spiced chorizo and perfectly cooked veggies. Parents for a steak dish with pasta and the meat was great. The only points I'd take away are for dessert. The tiramisu was pretty okay but the creme brulee was a little too sweet.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for great food, excellent service, and a cozy ambience, this is a must-visit.
My man Gino walks you in and sits you down and tells ya "listen here guy. My pasta is fresh and I make the motz" ok Gino tight. Lemme try that cheese board. Gino comes back like 15 minutes later and puts his hand on my shoulder and says to the table "Whadja let this guy lick the plate?" No Gino, but I should have. The fig preserves were that good. The meat/cheese board was all around amazing and generously portioned.
Our table got: Amante della Carne, Bucatini Arribiatta, Pollo Picatta, and a Lasagna for entrees. We tried each others and they were all absolutely delicious. I'm a tomato sauce over cream sauce guy and Gino had something for everyone.
This place is true old school Italian. Gino is real and his food is real.
I absolutely love this place. It's definitely home style mom-and-pop Italian boutique restaurant. The wait staff is top-notch; they provide prompt and professional service and provide great recommendations. The chef is on point with his culinary skills. I have ordered several items off the menu and have not been disappointed once.
Sometimes you jump to review a place because they have failed in service or quality of food. Well - this is the first restaurant I had an equal motivation to jump on and review. This time it is because of the highest quality in service and food that I experienced on my visit.
Food is fresh and well prepared
Wine selection was awesome
Service was wonderful
Atmosphere was not stuffy but high quality
Live music was great and not disruptive. Could still carry on a conversation at the table!
Too many more good things to mention. I will be back and if you desire to find your new favorite Italian place in Austin, put this one on your list to visit.
Gino will probably be there himself to make sure you have a wonderful experience.
Best Caesar salad of my life. Just fantastic. Homemade pasta is delish. Bolognese dish was tasty and satisfying, however, squid-ink pasta with assorted seafood and "garlic sauce," was essentially flavorless, a disappointment. Tried two specialty martini's plus Graham Beck red and some Moscato. Beverages were great. Owner Gino is convivial and stopped by our table for some honest chat.
Other positives: decor is thoughtful, with sound-softening ceiling and table layout maximizes both comfort and capacity. On a Tuesday evening the place wasn't busy and it should have been. Come eat here, people.
Gino's is the best! Ellie the bartender is not only sweet but she remembers what we like! Come here if you want good service and good food!!!
It's hard to find a real Italian restaurant when you cook nothing but Italian yourself, but Gino's is the place here in Austin. Just like back home in NY. The atmosphere was relaxed, old school Little Italy and the owner is very attentive to all his guests. Very welcome feel with real Italian food. Definitely will be a frequent stop for me.
I absolutely loe this place! You go one time.... you're automatically family. I had the salmon & mozzerella with bucatini pasta the two times I've been. It's really hard for me to order anything else. Lol. I wish i took pics!!!!!!! My husband had the jambalaya risotto last time and it was so creamy and just amazing! We will definitely be back to try more from the menu.
This is my favorite place to eat and drink.
Love Gino and Ping! Great wine list. Great cocktail menu. Great food. Delightful entertainment.
Gino's Whiskey Sipping Supper was a great event! We tasted yummy whiskeys and beers I'd never heard of, and Chef Luis' food parings,as always, were fabulous!!
He is an artist in using these spirits in the cuisine !
I enjoyed the education by the knowledgeable and spirited speakers also.
My boyfriend and I were looking for some Italian food on a Friday night and stumbled across Gino's. Gino opened the door for us as we walked in and greeted us. He truly loves what he does and you can tell. We had great service, great food, and live entertainment. Gino came by to check in on us a few times as well. We felt truly welcome. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food! All homemade. Menu is unbelievable. I had salmon with mozzarella and tomato, topped with some fresh basil. This was served over a pasta with a great sauce. Beer was something I had not heard of - brewed in Texas at Braman Brewery. Also delicious. Nice music - Sinatra era. Very relaxing dinner.
What a great authentic Italian restaurant. My boyfriend and I came in for dinner last night. We were greeted by the owner, Gino, and he frequently came up to our table several times with recommendations and to make sure the food was good. Our server, Ellie (I think), was incredibly attentive and offered us great recommendations. We ordered the caprese salad and the pesto calamari salad to start with and both were great. Also, the free bread they provide is amazing! I got the chicken picatta, which was very flavorful and a good portion. My boyfriend got the lasagna and it was delicious too. My boyfriend originally wanted to come here for the tortellini, but they were unfortunately out for the day. The owner provided us with a $10 gift card to come back and try the tortellini, which was such a nice and thoughtful gesture. We will definitely be back!
My lady and myself was I town for a body building competition and stayed at the hotel next to Ginos.. This place for me was amazing. Gino is an his staff was amazing. He made us feel like regulars. I had a blast.. he remembered me from the previous night and brought me a few rounds for my win.. it's good to know there still good ppl in the world that love what they do.. thanks Gino... I will see you soon
Very good, authentic tasting Italian food. Delicious homemade pasta, really nice staff, great drinks! The prices were good with generous portions. My only negative is that if it's going to be "kid friendly" it'd be nice if there was an actual kid menu and maybe a coloring sheet. But a solid choice overall for your Italian fix in Austin!
Real deal Italian in Austin. . If you're ever in Austin, it would be worth it to find this place and have yourself some cheese, pasta, vino and peroni! I'd particularly recommend the "Antipasto Bellissimo" It doesn't get much - if any - better.
Gino and family are great hosts as well! Gino greeted and said goodbye to every customer and chatted us all up throughout the night!
The live music was also amaze balls!
Much love for this place
Very quaint place. Owner likes to check in with all the tables. He should be proud. Great crap cakes, Cesar salad made at your table. Pasta home made too. Great wine list but a little pricey, to be expected these days.
The whole experience is so genuine that you'll remember it each time you come! It's purely an Austin treasure, there's no other place like this in this city. The food, the staff, the ambiance... well done!
Ciao Bella! This place is super cute with new bar lighting that changes colors, a newly installed hanging barrel used to house glasses and a newly purchased drawer for bar items. They were installing some of these things as I sat here. Lol
I ordered my food to go but tasted it before leaving and the Shrimp & Lobster Ravioli is to die for!!!! OMG! Foodgasm!
The bartender suggested several drinks while I waited but I settled on the Jalapeo martini. Yum!
This place was recommended by one of the JP1 courtroom staff members and it did not disappoint. I have found a new foodie spot in Austin!
Yummy, DELICIOUS, authentic Italian food!
We dined here a few times in the past couple of months. It's probably the best restaurant in Mueller. The food is great, the service outstanding, and they're very accommodating with food alternatives (gluten free etc). Another good thing is that their kids' menu is basically smaller version of the adults' food, so none of the usual pizza/fries/unhealthy stuff you normally get.
Definitely recommend it.
Ellie is what makes this restaurant a four star! Very helpful and knowledge about the menu. The food is a solid three star. The seafood did not taste that fresh but my husband really enjoyed his dish. The bread was a bit salty as well. I will give this place another shot as Ellie was super amazing!
First time here and the food and service was out standing. Defiently going back.
Best dining experience I could ask for. First time here and instantly felt like family. Cuisine exceeded expectations and hospitality made me feel at home. Highly recommend this spot and will definitely return. Thanks for a spectacular evening!
My group and I really enjoyed our experience. The owner and his staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The drinks were also delicious but pricey, so be careful. It can get expensive quickly if you don't limit yourself. We came here from Houston and wanted a place where we could sit, relax and not feel rushed so Gino's was perfect. I highly recommend this place.
Sidenote: The caesar salad was legit. Made right at our table.
The food is outstanding, the wine is great, the ambience is awesome, and Gino loves to make you feel like part of the family. Highly recommended.
Gino's is fantastic. Gino is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable -- a class act guy. The food was GREAT! Best Caesar salad, dressing made right in front you. Pasta is fresh. Sauces are fresh. I can't recommend this cozy place more.
Love! Such a friendly place and the food and wine is delish. We stopped by for a glass of red and ended up staying for multiple glasses and desert. Gino seems to know everyone, love that. Look foward to returning soon.
Really fantastic place!! We went in only for drinks, based on numerous hotel guests suggesting we give it a try. WOW, really impressed - we chatted with the owner and wife during the entire night. Really great place - food looked fantastic and the owner was extremely genuine with his service and restaurant. Highly recommend the place. Amazing drinks and selection.
I was meeting friends with my 17 month old son. When looking at things initially, I thought this place would be too fancy and my son could be an issue. Instead, I was glad to have a great meal and have my son hang out with Gino's son.
Bread - free, but oh so good. Not too crisp. Not too soft. Butter is already warm so it melts easily
Escargot - I think there were 8 pieces. The key as always is the garlic butter. These escargot do have a little spicy kick if you're weren't expecting it
Surf and Turf - good sausage. Shrimp was a good size as well. The risotto was a little softer than I like, but overall a good dish
Ravioli made with squid ink - very tender and delicate. I think the cardinal sauce was so good, I could have cared less than what the stuffing was - salmon, shrimp, lobster. Good wilted spinach with it.
Lasagna - good size portion - sauce was solid. All sauces are made in house, but this one you could still taste the sweet cut up carrots well.
Ricotta cheesecake - don't expect creamy, it's got a little texture, but that's because they're using ricotta and not just cream cheese.
Wine - while one guest asked for a tempranillo, the lady seemed knowledgable and found a good substitution.
Gino greeted quite a few people. He came over and chatted with the entire table. My son walked over to Gino's son and sat in a chair with him. The two of them hung out watching Youtube videos while we finished our meal. Overall, I think people assume like I did that this was a pricy place next to the Mueller neighborhood, but instead I think it's a nice little Italian place that hasn't really been found. Hand made pastas, in house made sauces. It's what you've wanted in a restaurant - a homey feel that someone is making the food fresh in the next room.
Upscale Brooklyn style Italian restaurant with music and a carefully selected wine list. We asked the waiter for a wine recommendation and got a great bottle, on the inexpensive side. That's service.
The Caesar salad, prepared table side, was perfect, highly recommended. Both our dinners were excellent. I like my pasta more al dente, and I'll tell them next time. Gino and the wait staff took great care of us, and everyone else in the place.
There was a singer, guitar player while we were there and he covered the waterfront, 50s to 90s, Elvis to Cash to Flack. A great start to a lovely evening.
We went to Gino's Vino Osteria after search in the are online for an Italian restaurant while we were out an about. Great choice! We were seated immediately. Our waiter brought menus right away, took our order, then brought drinks, and hot bread. Shortly afterwards, our food arrived. My husband liked his Lasagna di Casa and I loved my Salmon e Mozzarella. Our waiter was attentive, efficient and had a great smile. The restaurant itself has nice decor as well. Will definitely be back the next time we are in the neighborhood.
This place was amazing! Authentic, classic Italian food. I didn't like the red lighting but OMG the food!
AMAZING! Came to Austin on business, and all I was thinking was BBQ and steakhouses, but found Gino's and I was blown away! Fresh handmade found, and excellent service. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!
I've driven by this place for 2 years & finally took my wife here after reading the great reviews. Food was
very good! I highly recommend it.
I drove by Gino's Vino Osteria and decided to give it a try. We were greeted by the owner, Gino and his wife and they made us feel welcomed. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the table side Caesar salad as well as the surf and turf risotto. I travel the world for a living and have been to Italy many times and the taste of this food was amazing! The Gino's special drink was also great!! We will be back for sure!
Had Scallops on Risotto with braised spinach. Drop dead delicious! I don't think there are better scallops in Austin. The wine selection is wide and--my, the Malbec i had was perfect.
Amazing service, food & drinks! the owner and his wife make you feel like you are apart of their family.
Gino's is good. They have a wonderful lounge singer. It's a great place for a date. I liked the bread and salad more than my pasta which had too much sauce. The owner walks around talking to everyone, which is nice in small doses.
One of few full bars in the immediate area.
If you're planning on going on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday make sure to have a reservation to be able to be seated inside otherwise they have a nice patio you can eat at if you don't have a reservation. Gino is very nice and his wife treats you like family as soon as you walk in till you leave. The bread is 10/10 as well as the rest of our meal. All pasta and sauces are made in house and delicious. If your just visiting or from Austin this is a place to go. You won't regret it.
Now announcing a NEW appetizer on the menu!! Gino's is offering a fabulous quail and cucumber salad dish on their appetizer menu. The quail is fried and served in an Asian sauce that is delicious. The quail is so good that you will not want to share this dish. The quail is paired with a fresh dill & cucumber salad.
I often hear people talk about that little Italian place that's they like to take friends and family. Today I found that place. You walk in and there's Gino with arms open wide welcoming you to his restaurant like you were family. Introductions are passed by everyone in your party. Dinner started off with a good Italian bread and cocktails. In my case it was a delightful citrus martini with a slice of orange floating on top. The waiter informed me that this was one of their award winning drinks. It was strong and set to ease any worries of scurvy. Arrrr... Madeline ordered the Shrimp Pasta with white wine sauce and I ordered the Filet Migon / Rock Lobster with a Mediterranean vegetable medley (Surf n Turf). The pasta was home made and cooked al dente and the shrimp was lusciously bathed in a savory white sauce that was truly amazing. Yours truly was presented with a herbed and buttered filet cooked to perfection and lobster so fresh you could almost hear the ocean. Lemon squeezed, butter dipped, the first bite was was a celebration of culinary delight. Complements to the chef were offered after a scrumptious round of creme brle, tiramisu and coffee. Gino's is now my little Italian place. Be warned you can't leave without hugs and smiles from Gino and his marvelous staff. 5 stars!
You had me at the bread...
What a nice little Italian place! The intimate set up along with some live music in the background was a birthday treat. Since it was both my birthday and my roommate's, I guess "treats" is plural. Not that we needed a reservation (Thursday night for 6 people), but it's always nice to have had the option.
The bread...yes, the bread. Warm. Crunchy. Salty. Fresh. And to add to the irresistability (irresistableness? you know what I mean), even the butter seemed to impress. I couldn't even take a picture because we scarfed it down so fast! As we shrug down in embarrassment that we just inhaled it, we side-glance to see who will ask for more bread :X Well, as it turns out, when it's that good, multiple people will!
Salivary glands are already warmed up, and we look at the menu. A couple of us are wide-eyed because the prices were more than we were expecting...Almost all dishes were $22+. Hey, maybe that isn't too big a deal for Italian, but this also won't be just any casual go-to place. Welp, at least their happy hour might have been good... In the end, we ended up with a "go big or go home?/It's also a double birthday! Spend a little ;)" mentality, so the scallop it is!
A friend ordered the CROSTINI DI LUIS for the table (went halfsies and shared the pieces). Personally, I didn't like the sweet fig with the prosciutto though others seemed to like it, so I might be overruled on this one.
SCALOPPINE DI MARE- Impeccable. The scallops were soft and delicious, keeping that wonderful seared taste. In the tiniest bite, I could savor the flavor. Mmmmmmm...The mushroom risotto with spinach complemented the scallop well, and for $25, they did not skimp out on me. I was *overly* stuffed...Yeah... I should probably stop doing that... Needless to say, it was pretty elegant. In our statistically insignificant findings (n=4), the Scaloppine di Mare was the best dish compared to the SALMON E MOZZARELLA and AMANTE DELLA CARNE FETTUCCINE. Score for the birthday's choice!
The live singer/guitarist was a nice touch, I think? He sang some a few cover songs from rock bands. Mixed feelings..? Because on the one hand, it was still a nice experience to have live music for dinner, but at the same time, it also didn't quite match the intimate, Italian vibe.
Great experience. The atmosphere, the generous portion of the food, and the customer service. Best of all, the owner really makes you feel welcome. You really don't see many restaurants with an engaging owner these days and this place has that going for it. Definitely going to be a regular.
Don't let Home Depot in the next parking lot and Smashburger in the back deceive you. This small restaurant has the ambiance for a romantic date to a quiet business (corporate interview) dinner. The food is superb and the owner comes to you table to greet you. We came for lunch on special birthday celebrations and Happy Hour to destress.
We went to Gino's last night for our anniversary, and it was so good!! To be honest, I wasn't sure really what to expect based on the pictures and the fact that it's in the bottom of a Residence Inn, but the reviews were so great, we figured we'd give it a go. It's just a smidge more expensive than the atmosphere seems like it should be, but the food is worth the price - it's SO tasty!! We started with the fig & gorgonzola crostini, and the table-side caesar salad - my mom actually makes homemade caesar dressing, and this was pretty much spot-on to what I think it should taste like!! We shared our entree, the scallopini di mare (scallops with risotto) and it was SO YUMMY!!!! And lastly we split the lemon cake, and that was amazing too! We had some wine and a cocktail, all awesome. The waiter was cute and kept over-explaining things ("prosciutto is a cured meat, like ham", "bolognese sauce is a tomato-based meat sauce") which could've been annoying if it hadn't been so endearing ;) The musician was amazing and it wasn't too loud, although Gino kept checking in with tables to make sure, which was very sweet. All in all, it felt very homey, everyone was super sweet, it's small and cozy, and incredibly tasty. I'd give 5 stars for just a slightly more authentic atmosphere, but this review is really more like a 4.8 stars :) Yay, so glad you're in the neighborhood, Gino!
Very hospitable staff, great drinks, and they give awesome Austin must-see pointers for out of town visitors!
What a great find in the rapidly developing Austin,Muellar area.
The food was fantastic, and could only be outdone by the outstanding service.
Gino, and his lovely wife really mean it when they say their patrons are part of the family.
Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and gave us great service, she did a great job. If you like Italian food, you should check out this fine establishment. All portions of the meal were delicious including some of the best bread I've ever had with Italian food.
Gino and his staff really go the extra mile to satisfy. Heck the day I made the reservation for that evening Gino answered. When I asked him about a clam sauce instead of marinara, he told me it's not on the menu but he had enough time to run out and by some fresh clams and he would prepare it just for us. We didn't take him up on his kind offer but I was impressed that he would go through the trouble on a Friday afternoon when they had to prepare for the dinner crowd. Speaking of reservations I would suggest making one, especially Friday's and the weekends. Although they have only been opened 5 weeks and we were seated right away,as the evening went on it was obvious this gem of an eatery is catching on fast.
As an added bonus there is live entertainment Thursday thruout the weekends if I'm not mistaking.
Although we are from the Dallas area we plan on making this cozy spot a regular stop whenever we are in town.
Keep up the good work and save us a table please.
Love love this place. They have only been open a short time but I have already become a regular. Food is all made from scratch even the to die for pasta. The owners and team make everyone feel welcome and at home. Plus the live entertainment. Mueller needed a charming fine dining place with a welcoming bar.
Want me to start off by saying that this place is absolutely unbelievable. My wife and I came here for happy hour and to start things off the owner of the restaurant came over and greeted us personally. The owner, Chino, is extremely hospitable and so is the status. I'm top of that the happy hour prices are very fair and the food is out-of-control delicious. I recommend this restaurant, especially during happy hour, for anyone that likes delicious Italian food very good atmosphere excellent drink prices and an overall good time.
We stumbled upon this place and so glad we did. The food was delicious and service was spectacular. It's like having dinner in your own home. Oh, and the bartender David... Just awesome. You have to experience this place !!
This place is amazing! As with most others, Gino greeted us at the door. He, the bartender, the cook were very friendly and welcoming! The food was amazing! The wine was amazing! The bartender gave my friend and me hearty samples of the wine without us even asking! Also, the cheese plate is DIVINE! Try this place out! It will not disappoint.
Go here for the hospitality, stay for the food and drinks.
Places like this are hard to come by, and I'm happy to have it in my neighborhood.
I ate here on a Thursday evening because I was staying at the attached hotel. The owner Gino introduced himself and was very friendly! Be aware: The "Flourless Lasagna Di Vegetable" is made without any pasta. This was not clear on the menu (at least to me). They were kind enough to take it off my bill which I appreciated. Live music was being played inside.
I love this place. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted by Gino and his wife. The service was awesome. Gino was attentive throughout the meal. The food was excellent. I ordered veal picatta, which had the perfect lemon taste. Their fried Chocolate ravioli was fabulous and the sauce was made at your table. The drinks were great - very flavorful. Will definitely be back.
Great experience! Just felt so welcomed here! We were fortunate enough to be greeted by Gino himself. What a nice guy. Gave us a run down of the place and talked us through the extensive wine selection. Enjoyed a couple of drinks and listened to the great band. Will definitely be back here soon for dinner.
The food and service was outstanding. When you meet Gino's and his wife you'll know you're in for a treat. All the pasta is made in the restaurant and cooked to perfection. You need to experience this place.
This is a great place! Gino is a very nice man and he comes by your table a couple of times and makes sure everything is great! The food is amazing!! 100% recomended!!
Amazing food! Amazing service! Amazing owners! I can't get past the scallops and risotto to give an opinion on anything else, that's how amazing it is! Please stop in and say hello to Gino, Little Gino and Ping. They will treat you like one of the family!
Decided to check this place out for lunch today and it was amazing! The owners provide excellent service. We ordered several appetizers and dishes and they were all outstanding! Lots of pastas and sauces made in house. Will for sure be back, maybe even tomorrow!
FANTASTIC new Italian restaurant!! I've been waiting months for this place to open. The food is Great and the owner Gino & his wife work hard to make sure everyone is happy. We started with two specialty cocktails and the Escargot. We both enjoyed Surf & Turf with a red wine recommendation from Gino. The homemade strawberry daiquiri cheesecake was the perfect finish. They also have live music and performers singing Sinatra and other classics. I'll be back to try the Lunch and weekend Brunch menu.
Best Italian meal in Austin in recent memory! Cheese and meat appetizer had nice variety, and a delicious fig spread, and beef carpaccio was a taste sensation. Bread was nicely toasted. Lobster and shrimp ravioli, accompanied by a bit of fresh spinach very tasty. Seafood with squid ink pasta (black pasta) a good choice too. Nice wine list, we travel extensively and recognized several of the red wine choices from our travels. Desert made at table, chocolate ravioli, a nice end to a great meal. Small restaurant, with full bar, involved and accommodating, friendly, service. Outdoor patio looked nice on a cooler evening. Lounge singer, who apparently is there on Friday nights, was nice surprise, good voice, and sang some patron requests. My wife, sister-in-law, and I really enjoyed everything about this place. And, the owner was on scene and enhanced the experience. Go early or late for quieter ambiance and feel, but we enjoyed the more crowded, a bit noisy Little Italy/New York more authentic Italian restaurant feel (which brought back nice memories of my youth near NYC). Not inexpensive, but we thought it was fairly priced for the quality of food and venue. We will be back soon.
We had a great time at Gino's Vino and the food was amazing. We came for happy hour and the drinks were delicious and unique and in the $4-6 range. We had some small plates, but the small plates were not small! I had the surf and turf with risotto for less than $10. Gino came over several times to check on us himself, and talked sports with the fans at our table. We got three desserts for a table of 7 and they were a good size to pass around 3 times and still have left overs. We will definitely be back.
I can't rave enough about this special spot. I arrived grumpy, famished, and scattered after flying all day. I wandered in shortly after the kitchen closed. Gino and his staff greeted me warmly and didn't hesitate to accommodate me, even though it meant people likely had to stay late. The tenderloin beef tips with sausage and chorizo linguine dish that followed was nothing short of spectacular. Not to mention the personal service his bartender kindly provided. I'll not soon forget the special experience I received at Gino's. Five stars without question. Many thanks!
What makes this place great is the hospitality (and of course the food too!). We were welcomed by Gino, the owner, when we first arrived. It is clear that he takes great pride with his restaurant. We were staying at the Residence Inn next door so we decided to give this place a try for the sake of convenience. We started with the meat and cheese board and we couldn't have been more pleased. The fig jam was amazing. We have had many cheese boards at different restaurants which cost far more than what we got at Gino's. We also had multiple glasses of wine which was surprisingly reasonably priced. A couple of us got the pasta which was hand made in house. Amazing. Would highly recommend to those traveling for business or for Austin locals. We will definitely be back.
This is a family owned restaurant. Gino, himself welcomed us and visited our table several times throughout the night to check in and chat. The staff was great and the live music was a perfect compliment to the evening. Gino told us that they'd even lowered the ceilings so that guests could both listen to the music and/or talk amongst themselves. And then there's the food - we started with a Mozzarella Con Pomodoro E Basilico and Ceasar salad prepared fresh at our table. For our entrees we had Scampi E Bucatini (Shrimp Scampi) and Surf and Turf comprised of a perfectly prepared beef tenderloin and lobster tail. All of Gino's pasta and mozzerella is handmade and their bread will make you give up your no-carbs pledge. We concluded the meal with blueberry cheesecake. This restaurant lives up to its Osteria name - which as Gino explained describes a local, family run establishment. I would definitely recommend Gino's Vino Osteria and will definitley be going back again.
Great food and above all the service and stops here is top notch! Gino makes you feel like family. He remembered me from the first time I dined in for lunch and wine and his wife is so sweet. Way to go Gino
Gino and his wife Ping were the ultimate hosts.
He even told us "we want this to be like you're going to your friends' house for dinner. You get great company and everyone knows you. The bonus is you're getting an excellent meal that you can't get anywhere else."
He's right. Excellent meal from start to finish. Great martinis. Superb wines. And bistec alla raviollo that is like nothing you can get in Austin
My recommendation: go here and tell Gino to take care of you. You won't go wrong.
This was one of the best meals I've ever had- the three of us split the meat and cheese appetizer plate, bacon wrapped shrimp, and salad. It was more than enough food and delicious! I even bought some of their homemade salad dressing to take home. I highly recommend Gino's Vino Osteria!!!
This place is a hidden gem! The food is delicious, they have a great wine list and the owner and his wife could not be nicer. They have a great happy hour too. We sat at the bar and Gino took great care of us. The gnocchi, salmon carpacchio and housemade mozzarella were delicious. This place blows away everything else in the area, its a new favorite spot!
Went here for a quick lunch. It was wonderful. The pasta is homemade as is the mozzarella. Everything including the chocolate cannoli was delicious. I will definitely be back. The owners are great and very personable.
This is my favorite place to eat and drink.
Love Gino and Ping! Great wine list. Great cocktail menu. Great food. Delightful entertainment.
We stopped in for cocktails one evening and were not disapointed. Gino and his wife were very warm and friendly. The drinks were wonderful and strong. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food smelled amazing. His son was in the front at the desk and was very well behaved. It was a great place to unwind.
Gino is an awesome host and makes sure you're taken care of. Definitely a hidden gem outside of the hustle bustle of Austin. If you're looking for legit Italian, visit Ginos! They even make Ceasar dressing from scratch table side. Mmmm
Last night we dined at Gino's Vino, and it was absolutely fabulous. We ordered a variety of Happy Hour specials and shared. They make their own mozzarella, and every item was delicious. Escargot was some of the best I have ever had, and each item came artfully presented. The decor is very comfortable, with character....not at all like some of the chain Italian restaurants. In addition, the service and personal attention from Gino and his wife were incredibly special. He even invited my grandson to play on the IPad with his son. My only regret is that this place is not closer to our home, but believe me, it is worth the drive in every way possible.
This place is full of character. We were greeted by the gregarious owner, Gino. His wife was nearby setting tables and his son was sitting behind the greeting station playing on his iPad. Clearly a happily run family business. The pasta is all handmade, which automatically makes it better. We had the squid ink pasta, the bolognese, and the special (char with peach sauce over pasta), and butter/cheese pasta for my daughter. With two drinks and an appetizer, the bill came to $102.
Gino has an exceptional place here. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is quaint. Happy hour is awesome! Gino was a great host. We will definitely come here again.
Please look past "restaurant in a hotel," it's around back and as soon as you walk in you feel like you're in an old Italian bistro. The owners are super friendly. Gino is all about fresh made food and you can taste it. Definitely a hidden gem!
The food was excellent. Had a variety at the table: chicken marsala, chicken picotta, surf and turf, and fettuccine alfredo. All pasta made in house and cooked perfectly. Service was outstanding. My only serious complaint was that Marilyn Monroe is singing in the corner...makes the entire atmosphere feel kitschy. Would I return? Sure...when Marilyn isn't here. :-)
Excuse me but there really are limited great dining spots left. Now I'm not talking about a to die for steak or the town's greatest taco. I'm talking about the venue, the food, the ambiance and all the other factors of an excellent dining experience. There were no parking spots in the front so my daughter and I parked around back. You pass the windowed wall of the bar as you approach the front door to the restaurant. I could see someone inside waving wildly at us as we walked past. I thought, "This guy must think he knows us." The front door swings open and a sweet lady, Gino's wife, waves us inside. Ha! There were other shops and restaurants along the strip center, so I guess she's probably grabbed a few extra customers this way. Inside there is a cozy dining area w white table clothes and cloth napkins, candles, the whole bit. Wait staff is on point with menu suggestions and offerings of a few off menu items. Momentarily, Gino makes his rounds. The feel here is family. Guests appeared to have been coming here forever. Selfies w the owner, lots of laughter and celebrations going on. The cocktail list is something to celebrate itself. The food here is stellar w all pasta made in house. Lots of unique items and plenty to treat any tastebud. The musician sings softly in Portuguese and English as she plays the keyboard. We had fun trying to identify the pop songs. Save room for the dessert tray that comes table to table. I'm already planning my next trip there when I return to Austin. And I'll park out back, just to get the extra greeting from the bar. Go, just go.
My husband and I were in town for ACL and were craving Italian food. I ordered the shrimp/seafood ravioli and he the scallops along with a Greek salad. Normally he eats a salad Bc he feels like he has to and never finishes it. This salad was so delicious that he devoured every bite. And it was a great indicator of the meal to come. We always try each other's meals and we loved both so much, that we split them. The scallops were huge and that is the best mushroom risotto I've ever had. I'm looking forward to our next Austin trip, just so we dine again. (And I can confirm the owners were there to greet us and offer great service!)
My husband and I are regulars at Gino's and he and his staff treat us like royalty. His family and entire staff welcome us wth hugs and are always so friendly. That is point #1.
Point #2 - Gino has he best cocktails in town. All are hand-crafted and made with real fruit and ingredients, not syrups. I've tried several and have not been disappointed at all. The blood orange martini is my favorite.
Point #3 - best Italian food in Austin. House made mozzarella and chef-created dishes do not disappoint. I love the lobster ravioli! The calamari are fabulous as well.
Gino's is a great place for Happy hour. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. I will definitely be back.
This is the real deal folks! Gino and his staff are warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. His wine list is comprised of small, select vineyards that really deliver, just like the rest of this dining experience. The table side Caesar is must. Gino prepared it himself. He brought me a small concoction of spices for my squid ink pasta, made in house btw, and it was a great touch. Just like the fresh cheeses and bread. We'll definitely be back to sample more of the menu and to take in the live music over the late week and weekend nights.
Little Italian oasis by Mueller! Excellent blood orange martini! Tableside Ceasar salad is the bomb! Gino is a gem!!
Very good food, great personable service. Gino himself sat us, and made sure we were taken care of. Best Italian food I've had in Austin. The parking situation is a little unfortunate, but it's worth the tiny walk around the back of the building. Will make sure to return for Happy Hour and dinner.
Gino's is a great place. I had a memorable birthday dinner here complete with amazing food, wonderful customer service, and an ambiance like no other I have had in Austin so far. I look forward to coming back many times.
My boyfriend and I were in the neighborhood to see a movie at the drive-in down the street, and we had 30 minutes to kill before it started, so we popped in here for a quick cocktail.
Gino himself greeted us at the door, shook our hands, and personally welcomed us to his restaurant! In a city that feels like it's growing too fast, that kind of hospitality is so appreciated. The bartenders were all really nice as well. I felt at home. We wish we could have stayed longer, but we'll definitely be back.
New to Gino's but not to Austin. The food & wine scene in Austin is a force to be reckoned with & Gino's did not disappoint! Here on business & staying at the hotel. Hidden little jewel. Great food, great wine & Gino & the team really make you feel welcomed. The weather was nice enough to sit outside but inside they had a guitarist & a few other little treats. Gino & his wife personally shook my hand & thanked me for coming in & his wait staff couldn't be more attentive, friendly & helpful (as the menu is authentic Italian & being a Texas girl, there were some questions!) A little pricy bc I didn't come during happy hour which ends at 6pm, not 7pm, but otherwise very impressed & looking forward to more business in Austin so I can come back to Gino's Vino. Thanks Gino!
Finally, Gino's is open. I went for a recent lunch, and the cedar-plank salmon was exceptional. One of the best lunches I've had. Served with fingerling potatoes (including purple ones) and spinach, the salmon was drizzled with a life-changing reduction made from berries and red wine. The salmon itself was well-seasoned and incredibly juicy.
Hospitality can't be beat. Gino greeted me when I arrived, and during my meal the chef came out to see how I was enjoying his creation. A week later I'm still shaking my head at the divinity of the meal.
My only criticism is that it's pricey, especially for lunch.
We went to this place tonight after being effectively ignored at a nearby tavern. When we arrived we got an immediate friendly greeting from the hostess who turned out to be the owner's wife.
It was a slow night but the attention and service was excellent. The owner, Gino, came over and introduced himself. He's great!! Super friendly.
All five in our party loved their meals made with house made pasta. The food is a little on the pricey side but very well worth it.
We are just visiting here but we hope the locals try this place out. Excellent!
This is my first yelp review and I honestly got the account solely to praise this restaurant!
DISREGARD ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS, YOU WILL LOVE IT HERE :)
(people are more inclined to write a bad review than a good one)
I have been in the service industry for the last five years and this is by far the best restaurant experience I have ever had. We are from out of town and went to Gino's for late night drinks and appetizers. The service is everything you could want and more. Starting with the fact that Gino makes a priority to talk to every table, he makes it feel like home. We had such a great time my boyfriend and I decided to book reservations for our anniversary dinner here. If you go to Gino's you will walk in feeling welcomed and leave full with new friends. Definitely a must try!
Thank you Gino, for making our experience so special :)
Very rarely do you ever have a perfect meal, perfect waiter and very personable owner who comes around to make sure everyone is happy.
Gino's Vino is that place!
From the fresh house made pasta, fresh seafood and ravioli, this place is a true gem in Austin.
Go by and meet Gino, his lovely wife and son, they'll make you feel like family!
In a city that's growing too big too fast, this place should be noted. The owner is a sweetheart, and makes it clear that he appreciates your patronage and wants you to enjoy your visit. The waitstaff are friendly and personable - not full of themselves. I really like the space - it's small, but the textures and ceiling make it less loud and echo-y than a lot of other places in town that are trying too hard. There's a good wine selection, and the food is really good, with great presentation. I especially liked the mozzarella tomato, the grilled bread that came out before our meal, and the gnocchi. I do wish there were more meat-free options on the menu (and less veal - I don't do veal), but I didn't ask to have it omitted from any dishes. Maybe that's an option. We will be be back, especially since this place is open until midnight! Late- night diners rejoice!
Excellent food and atmosphere. The owner is very involved, jovial and outgoing! Very welcoming!
It was so nice to go to a restaurant that wasn't the newest trendiest spot with awesome decor, but crappy food (like most new restaurants in Austin). Interesting location, but AWESOME food AND great live music. Gino was super friendly along with his staff. All the pasta and ravioli are hand made, fresh local ingredients. They do a table-side Caesar salad and have delicious looking deserts. Also have live music some nights, will definitely be going back.
I LOVE this place! Austin doesn't have a large variety of Italian restaurants, and this one is worth the trip. Very authentic Italian food with homemade pasta and sauces from scratch. The Caesar salad is to die for. They make it for you completely from scratch right at your table and their wine menu is divine. Chicken Marsala and Squid Ink Pasta are among my favorites. Local, family owned joint and live entertainment in the evenings and weekends. Go before Austinites discover this place and have you waiting for a table!
I went to Dinner last night, and had such a wonderful experience. The dinner we had was absolutely fabulous, had the Sea Scalps over risotto and spinach the scaplps were large and wonderful and my wife had the chicken stuffed with spinach and chorizo also was real good and had tableside Caesar salad would recommend to everyone to have. The drinks were good and strong the way I like. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a special night out. Prices were good for all of the awesome service and wonderful food. They also has a beautiful young lady that is a Marilyn Monroe impersonator singing songs of that era was very romantic.
Thank you Gino's for coming to our City.
My best friend and I came to Gino's for an early lunch this last Saturday and we were absolutely blown away. This wasn't just lunch, this was a culinary experience like nothing we have ever experienced before. The service and food are outstanding and I cannot recall ever having better. We were greeted by Gino himself and was taken care of like Royalty by him for the entire meal. The meal started off with fresh made bread straight from the oven and a glorious glass of Chianti (she had the Cab.). Following the bread we had a tableside caesar salad for two that Gino himself prepared for us. It was absolutely amazing and it was huge and with fresh made-to-order croutons this rivals any salad I have ever had. Then it came time to order the Entrees which was a difficult decision, I must say with so many decadent offerings, but I finally decided on the Squid Ink Linguini with salmon, shrimp, scallops, and seasonal mixed veggies. Heavenly. There are no other words. She had the Lamb Meatballs and Capellini which she raved about. The food and the experience, along with the service took us halfway around the world, for the moment we might as well have been in Italy. It was a really special meal that I will never forget and look forward to many more! I would give this 10 stars if I could.
I ended up here trying to consolidate after a work meeting - so totally on a whim, thinking it was honestly a small chain considering the sign out front. What a pleasant surprise to find this is not only a chain, but a new place!!
Their lunch menu and wine list were great! I had their tomatoes and mozzarella - house-made mozzarella is ALWAYS a winner! - fresh basil, good balsamic, perfect.
The best part of this impromptu lunch break was that the owner (Gino), who introduced himself and showed why small business owners need to be championed, let us spread out. Laptops, notepads, papers, cellphones. I'll certainly be back anytime I'm in that neighborhood, for work or otherwise!
Oh man, where do I start? My husband and I were out of town staying at the Residence Inn Marriott, working at the Convention Center. It was a windy weekday, we didn't feel like traveling to 6th for a drink, so we came to Ginos Vinos.
I wondered before we went in if he would greet us like the other Yelpers said, and he did! A welcoming warm handshake and smile, after asking what we were there for, he walked us to the bar. He talked to us about his business since we are from Dallas, he had a restaurant where Nick and Sam's is now in the 90s. He was alot of fun, he got on the harmonica with the live music player. Love the music BTW.
I had the Raspberry drink, and the Cherry drink. Can't remember what they are exactly besides delicious, great bartender. I also ordered the cheese and meat plate, it was pretty good.
I would go back to Austin just to visit Gino. And his wife hugs you on
your way out!
Amazing and great place, Gino is excellent host. It's a classy place. Honestly, I will back for taste the deliciousness from here.
Omg! How have I not eaten here before today?! Everything I had here from appetizers and well balanced drinks to dinner to dessert with beautiful, quick service and a gorgeous duo singing in the background has been stupendous and outrageously delicious! Met and made nice with the husband and wife owners and became fast friends with our waitress. I am SO coming back here to try more on their menu! You need to try this place!
This was great. I love the atmosphere and Gino is wonderful. Food was great!!!! Will definitely come back. Perfect for date night .
Recommend the Crostini de Luis as a starter. Such a warm and inviting experience. We'll definitely be back to try something new each visit.
What a fabulous meal! We knew we were in for a treat after the Carne E Formaggi Della Casa antipasto was served - delectable high quality meats and cheeses, including their home made mozzarella and the crostinis were so good we ordered another serving!
We were a party of 4 and everyone raved about their entrees. I had the Tortellini di Formaggi and it was outstanding!
The food is all fresh made as you order and they make their pasta fresh every day - and the flavor proves it. Every bit was full of flavor and tasted high quality and you could tell the vegetables are fresh, not frozen.
Personalized, attentive service from the two owners. They were so friendly and engaging, it was lovely.
They have happy hour M-F starting at 3:00!
Not a lot of restaurants put this much love in to what they're doing, I highly recommend you give them a try!
Loved, Loved this place. Please all of Austin try this place. Take in the atmosphere, the friendly workers, and the delicious food and drinks!
This is perhaps one of the best Italian restaurants in Austin. Not fancy, but great food, wonderful service and an owner who will treat you like a long lost cousin or at least a best friend. I haven't had a bad dish....the pasta is made fresh on site daily, the desserts are great, and ask Gino to pick a wine for you. He'll ask what you want to spend and then what he brings to the table will be perfect!
This place really makes you feel like you are part of the neighborhood gang, and the food is outstanding na hidden gem in the Mueller neighborhood.
What an awesome neighborhood find! Gino, of Gino's Vino, is a very social and gregarious host who welcomed us in to his restaurant!
Gino's Vino offers signature mix drinks, an extensive wine list with helpful recommendations from Diane!
We enjoyed the antipasto plate (meats, cheeses and signature fig jam). The lobster ravioli, topped with select steamed spinach leaves and sauted white onions...excellent!!
Extra yummy tiramisu too!
We're fans!! Highly recommend!
Great place. The pancetta wrapped shrimp was great. Delicious. Pancetta was crisp. The shrimp was juicy. So much flavor.
The Pollo Farcito (stuffed chicken was delicious and then they had limoncello tiramisu.
That is my complaint that I didn't ask and no one told me about limoncello tiramisu. Becomes I did not save room! Now I have to come back for it. It looked amazing and it made my heart sad to leave it untried!
Great place and the owners are super friendly. Reminds me of a neighborhood Italian restaurant in the big city
Wow what a great place !
The bartender David was so entertaining and welcoming. I was searching for a place to blow some time while my daughter was seeing the iheart radio festival . I'm so glad I stumbled upon Gino's ! I ate the Ribeye it was fantastic and ended the night with my favorite Spumoni
Ice cream and coffee ! Nice ! I will be back
If you like a small, out of the way, family oriented, fun place to hang out, come here.
Specialty cocktails cater to all tastes. From rock and rye manhattans, to a sparkling ginger mint martini, you will like all of them. And if you're a wine drinker, this place has a great selection.
The menu is right sized. Happy hour from 3 to 6pm. I recommend the sausage and artichoke appetizer.
Gino is over the top fun, and his wife is always in control of making sure you have everything you need.
Got to at least try it. I dont think you will be disappointed.
Wow! This place is delicious!! First of all, the atmosphere was well appointed and the service was excellent. But most importantly of all, the food! Mmmm!
The meal started with lightly grilled garlic bread and butter. Pretty standard but good.
I had the Salmone Farcito which is salmon with fontina (?), spinach and a little chorizo with a cardinale sauce on a bed of cheesy risotto. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the flavors of the dish worked so well together! We were there for lunch. At night they serve it on spaghetti instead of risotto.
My mother had the lamb meatballs with mushroom-brandy sauce served over risotto. It was amazing to the both of us. Oh that sauce! It would go good on anything!
We finished the lunch off with a piece of lemoncello cake. It was like a lemon tiramisu. I believe it had lady fingers soaked in lemoncello. It has a bit too much cream for me but I would still order it again.
Overall, this place is a gem!! The owner, Gino, came over and introduced himself and shook our hands. He wanted to make sure everything was as it should be. It was.
I look forward to going back with a larger party because I want this place to make it! There are at least 5 more entrees on the menu I can't wait to try! Support local businesses!!
Not only is the food absolutely delicious and robust in flavor but the restaurant is very lively and fun. The owner and his wife loves to come greet you and make you feel welcome or "part of the family." The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. This is my second time here and we love it! I will definitely be back!!
*my only suggestion or drawback; as an animal lover I wish they wouldn't serve veal.
Loved the Gino warm welcome. The live music. The waiter who served us from El Salvador. So warm. Just all round awesome.
The old fashioned. How well made. Loved it.
The Chicken Piccatta. And the fresh home made pasta!! Too awesome.
The Pollo Farcito and the red sauce had too much of the oregano or the Italian seasoning. Overpowering. Otherwise good dish.
Chef invited us in the back to see pasta being made. All home made. Highly recommend.
Finally, very pricey and room for improvement there. But great overall
Great family Italian restaurant! Everything from service and food to atmosphere is five stars!
Food is prepared expertly. Service is great.
They also have live entertainment, Maryland Monroe tribute singer, absolutely fabulous! The price is affordable. Definitely will recommend to everyone and We will be back.
Walking into this place you are transported from a strip mall in Austin to a vintage hollywood looking Italian restaurant. I attended a UYE here and they were kind enough to extend the happy hour menu and pricing to our group.
I could go on and on about how great this place is from the boozy drinks to the delicious food but, I will just tell you what I recommend ordering.
Escargot, Surf n Turf (mind blowing), crab cake, seafood saltati, gorgonzola insalata, pollo and mozzarella strips. The pollo and mozzarella strips is similar to a piece of chicken parmesan.
The only item we ordered that I wasn't over the moon thrilled about was the salmon carpaccio but the other diners really seemed to enjoy it.
I tasted the jalapeno pineapple rita, the honey orange martini and the cherry bomb that other people had ordered. I personally ordered vanilla drop martini, and a dirty gin martini.
We finished a fantastic meal with a couple of desserts and although I was disappointed they didn't have traditional cannolis they were also amazing.
The service, food and ambiance were all amazing and it was a nice touch that the owner was also there mixing drinks and chatting with the patrons. This is one of the better happy hours in Austin that I have been to lately!
I started things off with a blood orange fizzy type of cocktail, then tried the Jalapeno infused tequila drank which was stunning. I ordered a Surf and Turf on Risotto. Now I virtually never order a surf and turf and have always been disappointed in Risotto at USA restaurants. Not this time! There was not a lot of seafood, but this was not a main dish but a small one off the HH menu. The Risotto was so good that I almost ordered the big main dish, which was a bit different after HH. My check was spot on, I got to talk with the chef a bit about the Risotto method he used. What a wonderful evening!
I had an amazing ribeye and also the best pasta ever! The owner and his wife are so nice too and great music here.
We originally called Gino's to find out if they had spumoni on their menu and they did! So we made a reservation for the next evening and we were not disappointed! Gino and his wife were wonderful hosts and Oscar was a fabulous waiter. There are so many options to choose from on their dinner menu and they have over 100 selections to order for wine by the bottle. We had lobster ravioli and zucca ravioli our first time in and they were both incredible. And yes, the spumoni was amazing! One of the best Italian restaurants in the city - a must if you love Italian food. Authentic, fresh, friendly, and everything you want from a well run business. I cannot wait to come back and recommend this to everyone!
I have found my favorite Italian restaurant in Austin. Friends of mine have been raving about Gino's for months so I went with high expectations and Gino knocked it out of the park.
We shared 4 of their happy hour offerings and they were without a doubt just fabulous! I loved their version of Bouillabaisse, their Tomato and Mozz was on point, lastly the sausage and artichoke was better than good. I think I dreamed about that dish last night. Last but not least the Escargot was one of the best I have ever had. Sometimes they are just drowned in garlic, not here just escargot, cheese, and subtle spices.
Their happy hour is fabulous, the setting is intimate, the service great! You get the picture here?I love the fact that the owner, Gino, is behind the bar and he is a great guy who makes some wonderful craft drinks.
Pro tip: Reservations are recommended for weekend dinner.
I can't wait to return and start exploring his dinner menu or maybe even another HH is in the cards.. Can't wait!!!!
Ginos has ridiculously fabulous crab cakes!! Super meaty, flavorful, and downright Devine. Comes drizzled with a delicious yet subtle basalmic reduction. It's really special.
As is the escargot! They're big, buttery, tender, garlicky and goes great with the crostinis. I was literally dunking them in the leftover buttery goodness from the escargot.
I enjoyed the creamy surf and turf. The shrimp were huge and plentiful and the mushroom risotto was great. The dish was well presented and packed some great flavor! I loved the artichokes in it.
The seafood saltati was excellent. It was big perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops, and salmon in a flavorful but light jalapeo sauce. I really liked the tomato's and garlic in the Saltati. Gino knows what he's doing with his dishes.
We also enjoyed the jalapeo pineapple rita. It was poured VERY strong. The drink was delicious and surprisingly not spicy. With only one of these I had a nice little buzz going.
We had happy hour pricing and for ALL of this top notch food and drinks it came to only $47!
"You would think that in a fancy restaurant at these prices you could keep the snails off the food!" Steve Martin
Most folks don't have $3,000 to fly to Italy and experience a once in a lifetime meal. So happy Gino's Vino Osteria is there to provide the same experience. I wish I could find a way to describe the beauty and presentation of the food, it's almost too beautiful to eat. OK, we caved in and ATE the food and that taste/smell sensation was an out of body experience. PLEASE try the "snails", "surf and turf" and work your way up the menu as you experience the beautiful wines on hand. This is a SMALL and ROMANTIC place that you'll soon not forget.
This review is for the Jan 2017 Wine Dinner. If you have not been to one of Gino's special wine dinners, you are missing out. Call or stop by to find out what wine dinners are coming up, as they fill up fast. So make your reservation as soon as you can.
Each wine dinner has a guest speaker from the highlighted winery. They will give you a short description of each wine as the course is served.
OMG!!! We attended the "Bold Reds and Bubbles" wine dinner that featured Graham Beck Wines. The wine dinner was $65 per person and was well worth it.
1st Course - Reception
Endive Ceviche was served with octopus and shrimp cured in a Tequila pineapple marinade paired with Sparkling Brut. This Ceviche was off the hook!!
2nd Course - Antipasto
They served us "The Lollipop" which was a pan seared lamp chop with apricot chutney paired with Pinotage. I wish this was on the regular menu, it was so good.
3rd Course - Secondi
South African Jumbo Langostino served atop squid ink risotto. This was my first time trying Langostino and it was excellent. It looks and tastes like a giant shrimp. The squid ink risotto was very flavorful. The lagostino was paired with Syrah. Ok I also with this was on the regular menu. I cannot say enough good things about this course.
4th Course - Entree
Grilled Veal Chop served with a marsala mushroom sauce and quinoa vegatale. The veal chop was huge and was paired with a Vintage Rose. I am not a Rose fan, but I have to admit that the Graham Beckham Vintage Rose is very drinkable and I enjoyed it.
5th Course - Dolce
We were treated with a South African Milk Tart, dusted with cinnamon and served with a decadent chocolate ganache. The dessert was paired with Vintage Blanc De Blanc.
In addition to the great food and wines, we also got to meet several people at the wine dinner, most of whom as regulars at Gino's. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and company.
My wife and I had been meaning to try this place for a while, she walks dogs and one her clients took her by Gino's sidewalk in the evening. Gino would sometime be outside and he was always very friendly to her, so we had made it a point to give it a try sometime.
We did just that on Tuesday and what a pleasant surprise it was for us!
First off, Gino and his lovely wife came over and introduced themselves and then Gino recognized my wife from the walks and his heart felt welcome set the tone for the evening.
We started out with the table-side Ceasar which if you are used to the pre-fab ones that you get at most places around and are not impressed- Give this ceasar salad another try. It is outstanding!
They have a full bar and nice lil wine list as well. I had the the squid ink pasta in pomodoro sauce, which will make it hard for me to try another item on the menu because it so good and I'll want it again. My wife had the Tortellini di Formaggio which she said was stellar. The freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail is definately on display here.
Don't leave without dessert and get the cheese cake! if you are used to some chalky chunk of goo that you'll find at your local theme restaurant, get their cheese cake and taste the difference!
My wife and I have decided to try the Wine dinner which is held once a month with a set price for 4 courses with a wine pairings. We are coming back and have moved them into our go to places for hanging out and dinner. Give them a try!
My husband surprised me by taking me to this wonderful restaurant. I can say this. Best birthday ever. The owner Gino makes you feel at home and the service is amazing food. Service amazimg. We will be back. They have entertainment on Wed thru Saturday. It's a must visit place.
This place is amazing. Came here trying to find something good to eat in Mueller area and found this little gem. Great food, super attentive service, and some live music. Will for sure be back. FYI.....Get the lasagna
I had a really fun, great experience here. I sat at the bar with a friend and the owners were basically the ones serving us. They were fun and outgoing and really made the experience wonderful. All the food was delicious except I wish the escargot was more your butter garlic sauce, but other than that, everything was good. We had the scallops dish and the seafood linguine. I would definitely come back and want to try their happy hour. The service was on point and I do think sitting at the bar made it fun.
What's not to love? Gino clearly pours his life into this place and it shows! Food was great, service was great, and we'll be back! Thanks Gino!
Stopped for a late lunch and loved it! Food was full of flavor and fresh! Gino was very friendly and involved with his guest which is a nice change from the token manager asking how your food is on the way by. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu!!
If you're looking for a dining experience that packs a ton of personality, you should definitely go to Gino's. Gino and his wife are extremely warm, hilarious, and they take extreme pride in what they have created from the hand-made pasta to the bar stools. You can definitely feel the love they have put in to every decision. A lot of those decisions are very interesting, but as a whole I really think it works.
This is not a trendy or modern-feeling restaurant, and I don't think it's supposed to be. The decor is quite contemporary, but the atmosphere is more mid-century, and on many nights you can even catch the Marilyn Monroe impersonator.
I recommend Gino's for the delicious fresh pasta, and the fun and tasty cocktails for sure, but the best part might just be the experience itself! You won't leave Gino's as a stranger for sure. Have fun!
One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in over 10 years.. Food is FABULOUS... Imports some menu items from overseas....homemade ravioli is the bomb. GINO himself is awesome, epitome of customer service and personality and I am looking forward to seeing the Marilyn Monroe show on Friday. Supper Club Italian style that has been missing in Austin. Add to all this, the Tiramisu and the lemoncello's PERFECTION!!...
Wow! What a treat tonight. Went to Gino's and Gino is a real person who came over and greeted us. The restaurant is lovely. We just wanted a quick and light dinner.
The chicken marsala was fantastic. We eat out alot, so we know our restaurants. Gino's was an Italian treat. Freshly made pasta! Can't wait to go again next time in town. We will go hungrier, too.
The singer channeled Marilyn Monroe....l Iovely voice. Our waiter was charming!
Real nice experience.
Haven't even gotten my main course yet and I think I found my new favorite Italian place in Austin. Gino is awesome. Now that I've gotten my meal, I know I'll be back. Fantastic. And Gino suggest a perfect wine.
My husband and I tried this restaurant on a whim and were not disappointed! The owner and staff were very hands on but not annoyingly so. The food was fantastic and the wine list was great! We will definitely return when in Austin.
Found my new favorite restaurant!!! Gino and his wife and entier staff are awesome!!! Best service in town and great food. Great food seems somewhat of an understatement! The portions are a little large but that's a plus for me since I get to enjoy it again the next day! Acutually, I cut back a little to save room for another glass of wine and a fabulous dessert! The Canolis are KILLER!!!
The atmosphere is warm, inviting and the acoustics make for being able to enjoy great conversations with friends. Believe it or not, you can actually hear each other even when the restaurant is full.
Great times! New and old friends. Can't wait for Thursday when we plan to return for crab cakes at Happy Hour!!!
Oh wait......the Tableside Caesar is great!!!!
And to that guy that gave these people a bad review, you really need to stop trying to ruin peoples' businesses with fake reviews. That's just not nice.
This is definitely my new favorite spot! Gino is the best, he's the owner and the bartender. The live music is great, very relaxed.... dinner was great as well! Small intimate spot. Love it ...
One of my favorite things about travelling in Italy is the family-like hospitality you receive when you go out to dinner in their restaurants. That is /exactly/ how I always feel at Gino's. It's a cozy environment, and the moment you walk in you feel like you're with people you've known your whole life. Go there more than once, and you'll be greeted at the door by the lovely Ping, Gino's wife, with a hug and a bright smile. And I haven't even started on the food yet. It's amazing. I've been to Italy many times, and Gino's does it right! They make all their pasta in house, as well as their mozzarella. Gino, the owner, knows his wine, and has a diverse and delicious selection to choose from. Their happy hour menu is great, but you can get anything on their menu all day long. Live music, mouthwatering, authentic Italian cuisine, and friendly people. What more could you ask for?
My wife and I had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent and Gino is great. The atmosphere was very nice as well. I highly recommend it!
I cannot say enough good things about this place!! The food and customer service was OUTSTANDING!!! My fianc and I have been here 3 times in the last month and are extremely satisfied every time. Our server is always Oscar. He goes above and beyond, and really does his best to accommodate his customers. The owner, Gino, walks around to every table the entire night to make sure his customers are well taken care of. We were there on the night of the restaurants first year anniversary and Gino gave everyone in the restaurant champagne on the house. If you are looking for the best homemade Italian food in Austin, go to Gino's Vino! You will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Gino and Oscar for your kindness, generosity, and incredibly delicious food! It's been an absolute treat every time we visit. We will be back very soon!
We came here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time and had a blast! The staff is super friendly and the prices are reasonable. I didn't have a meal but had a cheese plate and a wine sampler. It is one of the best cheese plates I've ever had! We sat outside and though the view isn't fantastic (you watch a lot of cars), it was well shaded. It's also next to Tiffs Treats so we caught whiffs of delicious cookies!
It is a pretty expensive place. We went there for hubby's birthday. The lasagna was some of the best I have eaten in Austin. My glass of moscato was good but 10 dollars is pretty expensive. The martini my hubby got was 12 dollars, but was incredibly strong. He liked it a lot. The ambience was romantic as well, with nice group playing music and romantic setting. The Blueberry cheesecake was out of the world. Gino, himself took my reservation. The band and Gino both wished my husband a happy birthday. The only problem is we could not figure out where we were supposed to park.
I've been wanting to stop by and try out Gino's Vino Osteria when they first opened and all I have to say is that I regret not going any sooner! No excuses since it's in my hood! Needless to say that I will definitely be back. The food was delicious! My blood orange martini was the cherry on top of my great meal. Gino and his staff are great. Don't hesitate to give them a try you won't regret it. Love the ambience. Great happy hour menu too.
Austin now has a awesome Italian restaurant where the owner comes from behind the bar to shake your hand and then prepares one of his award winning drinks(we had the Blood Orange Martini and the Jalapeo Pineapple Margarita. We enjoyed the head waitperson wheel over her table to prepare a customized Caesar salad. Today we took advantage of their Happy Hour with white bean hummus, a seafood soup and a great crab cake! The chef previously worked at a local steakhouse and it showed! Don't let the fact that Gino's is in a Residence Inn away you. What a great find!!!
I just love mom & pop establishments. Especially when you can feel the passion from the owners! Here at Gino Vino's you are welcomed by Gino himself, he's even working the floor if he's not at the bar!
I give this place 5 stars for AMAZING customer service and the food is just off the charts! If you want to experience great ambiance, food, and customer service...Gino's is where it's at.
This place is great! 4 of us came in from out of town and we walked in around 930 (they close at 10)but Gino came over and said we will stay open later for you (if we had shown up past 10). He was very welcoming and so happy to have us.
The food was amazing! On top of his hospitality and conversation this place is great!
We even went back there for dinner the 2nd night we were there. Definitely will be back next time we are in town. Gino is the best host I have ever met- great guy- truly loves what he does!
Came here on a whim and it was incredible! They make their pasta and mozzarella from scratch and have a very interesting cocktail menu - very different from what you would find around town. Will definitely be back.
Food is great, ownership is great and live music is worth checking out. Gino and Ping greets every single person that enters the restaurant and it really feels like a family atmosphere.
It's definitely worth checking out.
Begin with the table side Caesar, and you'll have arrived in Nirvana. Real anchovies, fresh lemon juice, egg yolk. Divine. You could stop there. I didn't though. The Zucca Ravioli is a Gorgonzola lover's dream. Squash ravioli bathed in a chunky sauce of roasted squash, candied walnuts, fresh sage and cheese. The ravioli was fresh, and honestly, it was the weakest element. So delicious. The hubby ordered cheesecake for dessert. It was more dense than creamy but it had the most wonderful almond flavor ( and warm blueberry compote). On top of the food, the wine list goes on forever, and we met the actual Gino -- very warm, welcoming guy. Total package, this place.
I was lucky to try out Gino's on a quiet night.
I'm forever trying to find a classy place with good food and wine that is also kid friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in with my toddler on a Wednesday night, but they were very solicitous and accommodating, which I really appreciated.
I loved the candlelight and friendly but professional atmosphere.
I found myself reminiscing about the lasagna the next day. (And they apparently make all of their pastas, sauces, and mozzarella in house.)
They had a singer there that night with a great Springsteen-esque gravely voice who did a great Gordon Lightfoot cover, among others.
Things were slow enough that I got to speak with Gino, our server, and the singer. Their kids were at the restaurant doing homework, which I found extremely endearing.
Apparently there's a Marilyn Monroe impersonator on Friday nights, which I really can't wait to see.
I also can't wait to go back another time sans child so I can sit at the bar and sample more of their Italian reds.
Glad to have y'all in the neighborhood!
This is a true family owned and operated establishment right in Central Austin in the Mueller shopping center (located near Home Depot/attached to the Marriott hotel). Unless you know what Gino's Vino Osteria is, you might pass by it not knowing it is a full service restaurant. One might assume it is just a wine bar in the hotel. Well I am here to spread the word and tell you it is not just a wine bar. This is a full-service restaurant!!
As others have mentioned, when you enter you are greeted by the owners Gino and Ping. Gino's objective is to offer Austinites a full service restaurant and bar with the "old Rat Pack feel". While I have to admit it does not have that look from the outside, once you walk inside you will see an Italian restaurant, with linen napkins, dining tables and a fully stocked bar. The old timey red candles give it the "Rat Pack" ambience for sure.
So let's talk about the bar and bartender. Gino is the head bartender and he has been tending bar since 1972, so he has experience. Gino's custom cocktails are true craft cocktails and are poured perfect and exact every time. In fact he even won an award for his Sparking Blood Orange Martini...which is only $6 at Happy Hour. There are six more craft cocktails available for $6 and he also offers $4 & $5 Happy Hour wines.
I have had a few of the appetizer items as well. I am a strong supporter of their Escargot and Smoked Salmon apps!
Something very unique is that they have live music in the evening. They have a small stage in the corner next to the bar (very creative use of space).
Have not tried an entree as of yet.
This place is great! Gino is super friendly as is the rest of the staff. There was a live music act singing when we walked in. A Marilyn Monroe lookalike which was cool! According to Gino live music every Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat. The restaurant/bar has a sort of Rat Pack vibe to it. Great wine and craft cocktail selections. We just came in for drinks, but apparently they make their own pasta and it's fantastic. I can't wait to go back!
What a great find! The food was absolutely delicious. The pasta is made fresh and the salmon is plank grilled. They easily accommodated young children - in fact were so friendly with us. We came at 6 on a Saturday and it was busy but not overwhelming - perfect for families.
The food is amazing. Has immediately jumped to the top of my list for Italian food in Austin. Every option is extremely tasty so you will not be disappointed with any dish. The owner is usually there and very personable. All of the employees sincerely want you to enjoy your time in the restaurant. This should definitely be a place to try great Italian food.
No one's cooking quite compares to our mom's meals made with love, just like there's really no better food in the world like homemade food! Gino's is the cherry on top of the perfect dining experience. Good conversation, delicious homemade food and toast your meal with delicious wine.
This quaint mom and pop restaurant promises a friendly smile (even a hug if you're a hugger) and a unique and delicious dinning experience. The establishment is cozy, intimate and clean. The quality of the food is perfect, with the right amount of tantalizing spices and great aroma. My favorite is the surf and turf with its savory buttery sauce and tender filet mignon. Boo's favorite is the bolognese, however the meat lover fettuccine is a very close second!
I've posted some pictures of some of the dishes that I have tried, along with Boo's favorites. I can only hope you have the same wonderful experience like we do when we dine here.
We had driven by this place several times, and finally decided to go in on a weeknight, when it was less crowded. There is minimal parking right in front, but plenty of parking just 100 feet or so away in the Residence Inn/Home Depot lots. Very nice atmosphere, was greeted immediately by Gino and shown our table. Live music with an acoustic guitar player who played everything from Sinatra to Springsteen and even some Texas music. There were 4 of us, so I won't go into details about everything we ordered, but it was all delicious! Excellent wine selection and my friend said her cocktail was amazing (can't remember what it was, but it had real fruit juice she said). Overall, a great find at the corner of 51st and Lancaster in the Mueller district!
One advantage of having a late lunch is that it most times it flows right into Happy Hour which is exactly happened this day. Being a oenophile, I was blow away by the wine list and the prices on the selection of wines for Happy Hour. Although I started off with an Old Fashioned and could not leave without trying the Cielo, a magnificent Italian Pino Noir. I'll definitely will return to this venue to partake of some of the delectable delights that I saw on the menu.
Gino's is located on 51st, but tucked nicely on a corner, just far enough from the hustle and bustle of traffic and passers by to ensure that the true Italian Family vibe flows freely.
Gino is like your favorite Italian Uncle (look, if you don't have one, go here... trust me, he's it!), coming to chat with you , make you feel all warm and loved and make sure you're having a good time.
The menu is not the traditional Italian I'm used to and grew up with, but it was outstanding and I'm quite sure the family would give it a raised glass of incredible red wine... speaking of...
WOW! The wine list at Gino's is simply fantastic. Peruse. Find one, two or three you love. And the cocktails that man makes - WOWZERS! Again - favorite Uncle Gino!
The atmosphere is great for a romantic date, girls' night out, even just a night of relaxation with some great food. However, it is also family friendly, in the true Italian way; all are welcome with open arms and warm food.
We started the evening with their table-side Cesar. Get it. Trust me. Keep this in mind though: it's huge! (my mouth is watering just thinking about it)
We then moved on to the Scallops. Holy. Schamoly. These were some of the best scallops I've ever had. Perfectly done; tasty sear on the outside, tender and full of flavor on the inside. The scallops were gently placed like tiny newborn babies, on a blanket of fresh spinach and this amazing mushroom risotto and both were out of this world.
I split mine so I could be sure to have room for dessert. I mean, I don't want to let you guys down by not reviewing a dessert, you know. You mean a lot to me! I'll totally take one for the team....
For dessert we had the chocolate ravioli. Flamb. Oh, the show! It was different from anything we have ever had and was so tasty! I would choose not to put the chocolate little pearls on it at the end (the chocolate powder was fine), because they just aren't necessary and the taste is off a bit from the rest of the dish.
I loved every bite of everything we all tried. I can't wait to go back and taste more.
Thank you, Gino & Ping, for making us feel so welcome!
My new official date night spot!
Came here on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was relatively empty but it's a pretty small place. I truly don't understand how it is not packed all night long. Everyone from our waitress to Gino himself was incredibly friendly.
My girlfriend and I shared the table side ceasar salad and the seafood gnocchi. Both were absolutely incredible. The meal also starts with some fresh bread that taste like it was right out of the oven. That pasta had more then enough seafood and was plenty of food to share.
I will definitely be back here for more! Thanks Gino!
One advantage of having a late lunch is that it most times it flows right into Happy Hour which is exactly what happened this day.
Chill authentic Italian restaurant! Small but packs a real punch. Try the squid ink pasta!
Gino and his wife are amazing. The food is so good you will want to hug/kiss th e cook. Please please please go by this place and have a meal. It's the kind of place you will love and want to come back to the food is absolutely amazing. I took my team her for lunch. We all ordered something different and it was all amazing, from the crab cake to the house made pasta to the lasagna to the lamb meat balls. Everything was Amazing. Did I mention the passion that the owner has for his craft. Take a chance and eat here it's somewhat off the beaten path but you will so enjoy your meal.
Great food, killer wine list, great happy hour, and fabulous drinks! And Gino himself is awesome! Friendly staff, cool little place, in an unexpected location. Every time the door opened, I expected the rat pack to walk in. :) I will be back again and again.
Best Italian food in Austin. Extensive, well thought out wine list. This is a great place for families or a date night. I like their veal piccata with their homemade pasta.
So so so good! i don't eat Italian often...I've been spoiled by the North End in Boston. Well Gino's tops the list of Italian I've had here in Austin. DELICIOUS. From the table-side made caesar to the house bourbon old fashioned, the melt in your mouth perfectly prepared scallops, traditional to a T lamb meatballs, and lobster & shrimp ravioli...it was fabulous! And to top it all off with several awesome convo's and a hug goodbye from Gino - this place is a gem, you gotta try it. Our server Victor was spectacular also - very knowledgable, great service and very personable.
Great food, even better owners. Very friendly and welcoming.
Gino's is an excellent spot for a date or any special occasion. Gino's offers Italian classics, each with a unique Gino's touch. Gino's is also a great place to grab a drink or glass of wine. The owner has hand crafted a complete menu of cocktails which he takes great pride in. An excellent wine selection is also available. Live music adds to the ambiance nearly every night making Gino's a hidden gem on the rise in Mueller.
Best Italian food in town!!! Homemade pasta. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Live singer. Owner and his wife really make you feel welcome.
Great authentic Italian food and wine! Local family owned and operated. Best restaurant in the entire Mueller area and best Italian in Central Austin! We go regularly to the Wine Club and special dinner events!
Live music, accommodations for large groups, and the owner personally asks if you enjoy the food. The handmade noodles personally taste great in every dish, escargot is yummy and their berry cocktail is so good!
Excellent food and good entertainment some nights. Owner always present and very friendly. Great atmosphere
Once again Gino does it again bada bing bada boom
Service awsome. Cocktails. Can drink only one. Food amazing. Gino friendly.
Excellent food but what makes this place great is the people. We are fast becoming regulars. Luis is a fabulous chef. Hand made pasta and more. The food is delious. Gino, Ping and Vicki make us feel like family. And let's not forget the live entertainment. Marilyn is fabulous! We are looking forward to our next visit.
Family owned and run restaurant. Good food, great service. Look forward to going there again and hearing some music as well.
Been a couple of times, love this place! Family run, small and intimate, great food good music!
Been there twice and can't wait to be back. Being from NYC I can be pretty critical of Italian food but this place is top notch. Gino is so fun and kind. Service is impeccable! Drink options are unique. And they are inexpensive. All in all the best type of dining experience you could ask for.
